Installation of Exhaust Tube Kits 155-2845 & 155-3481 -xx
GENERAL
R&o'iew the instructions and warnings inCluded in
this kit before starting the installation.
The exhaust system installation must comply w~h
all appliCable standards, local codes and regula-
tiOns. Study Ihe following recommendations.
The exhaust lube ITKISI be placed no doseI' Illan 3

lett, cotton, organiC fbers. etc.), 01' be so Iocale<t,
iosulated or shielded that it does not raise the
temperature of any cornbusttlle material more than
117-F (65°C) above the ambient air temperature.
The elChaust tube must extend a minimum of 1 ioch
(25 mm) beyond the peiilleter of the VEhiCle. Do not
tenninale the exhaust tailpipe under the vehide. Be
aware that any vent, opetabIe window, stOl'8ge
compartment. hole, crack or opening thaI is not
permanently sealed from the vehicle living space
can be an avenue for carbon monoxide to enler the
living space.
The tailpipe must not lenni nate so that any vent,
winaow, or opening into Ihe living area is within the
shaded circular area shown in Figure 1.

To reduce the chance 01 damaging the exhaust 1I.be
and emitting exhaust gases under the vehiCle,
make certain that no part of the exhaust system in-
trudes into the departure angle or approach angle 01
the vehicle, unless ~ Is protected by a skid bar or

 INSTALLATION
1. Hold the exhaust tube in positiOn to see if the
exhaust tube is long enough to extend a mini-
mum or t inch (25 mm) beyond the vehicle
skirt. It the e~haust tube length is satisfactOf)',
proceed to step two,
lf the exhaust tube does not extend at least 1
Q;h (25 mm) beyond the vehicle skW\, do not
install this kit. A longer exhaust tube is r&-
quired.
II the exI'Iausl tube is 100 long, Mcan be QIL The
new length must remain a minimum of 1 inch
(25 mm) beyond the vehicle skirt.
2. Assemble the backplates to the mounting
screws with the IIaoges lacing the screw heads
(refer to Ftgure 2). Insert tna 5/16-18 x 314
screw and backplate through the center hole in
the rubber insulator.
3. Insert the 5/16-18 x 1· 112. screw and baclq:llate
assembl ies through the ends of the rubber jn.
sulator in the opposije directiOn as the center
mounting screw.
4. Rotate the three metal backpiates SO the
flanges are aligned w~h the rubber insulator.
The flanges on the backpJates will protect the
rubber insulator when it is secured.
5. Mount the rubber insulator assernbty to the
base of the genset securely (Figure 2). Do not
overtighten the mounting boH or the rubber in-
sulator could be damaged.
6. Assemble the metal exhaust clamps to the
5116-18 x ' · 1/2 inch screws and place
5116-inch nlJls on the ends Of the screws 10 S&-
cure the damps in place. Do not tighten mount·
ing nllls at this time.
7. Slide the exhaust tube through the hanger
clamps. Asse rrt.le the exhaust tlb! to the gen--
set by slidng it over the muffler outIe1 tube.
Push the exhausl pipe up unt~ it reaches the
weld on the mulfler outlet tube (as far up as II
wiI go). Make tl8ftUI that exhaust gases can---
not escape through the slots in the exhaust
pipe. Secure the edlaust pipe with the t.J..txlIt
clamp.
8. Secure the exhaust. tube at the hanger by Ii!;trt-
ening the clamp mounting haftt.Nare until the
metal clamps touch on both sides 01 the ex-
haust tube.
9. tnspect the vehicle floor and make sure that
there are f'IO holes or openings into the living
quarters. Seal all holes or openings with a
silicone/rubber based sealant to prevent
exhaust gas from entering the vehiCle coaCh.
