Beidigh, 44144122 Beaux tapestry The Bayeux /osuz/ Tapestry tells the story in pictures of the events leading up to and including the Battle of Hastings on October 14, 1066. The tapestry is 50cm tall and 70 metres long. The text is written in Latin. The tapestry is exhibited in a museum in the town of Bayeux in France. Events preceding the Battle of Hastings. When Edward the Confessor died there were three main claimants to the throne: Harold Godwinson, an English noble; William, the Duke of Normandy, a distant cousin of Edward; and a Viking king Harald, Edward the Confessor offered the crown to Harold on his deathbed in January 1066. However, earlier he had offered William the crown as well. The latter felt that he was betrayed and decided to invade England to claim the throne. Put the evets in the correct order.
