To Whom It May Concern:

This letter serves as a recommendation for the employment of Alexandrea Chairez as a teacher in
your district. I have known Alexandrea for over two years in my duties as the Director of
Athletic Bands at The University of Texas at El Paso. During my first year in this position,
Alexandrea served as the Captain of the UTEP Dance Team (formerly the UTEP Golddiggers).

During much of Alexandrea’s time on the UTEP Dance Team, the organization suffered from
insufficient leadership at the director and administrative level. In her final year (my first as
Director of Athletic Bands), the team was left without a coach in the middle of the season. To
say that Alexandrea stepped up to the plate in leadership would be a severe understatement.
Simply put: I do not believe there would be a UTEP Dance Team in existence had Alexandrea
not led so skillfully and decisively. Her work ethic is extremely high; I know that she worked
many hours to pay for her education, and was still able to participate with the dance team and
maintain a very respectable GPA. Her resume will certainly back up her industriousness. In order
to achieve at this level, it is clear that she is highly-organized. She always had an answer when I
had questions about inventory or schedule for the team. Finally, she is a confident leader. She
knows what she wants, and she makes sure that everything is in place so that goals can be
achieved. To the outsider, she may appear tough as a leader; through my interactions with
Alexandrea, I know that this toughness is a manifestation of holding clear expectations for
herself and her peers and not being satisfied with anything less than meeting those expectations.

It is my pleasure to recommend Alexandrea Chairez for employment as a teacher. She will bring
a skill set that will benefit the school and community far beyond the classroom. Should you have
any questions, please reach out, as it would be my pleasure to speak even more on behalf of this
excellent young leader.

Sincerely,

Andrew Hunter, DMA
