How Did The Meow Cat Win The Race?

My dear kids! This is the story of a white kitten named,

Meow. Meow had a fluffy head, smooth belly with black

and white spots and soft

feet with shinny pink nails.

Almost every day, Meow

didn’t like his breakfast at all.

He even didn’t like

to wake up so early in

the morning. He wanted

to take a long nap till

the afternoon sun

shined straightly on

the trees.

Whenever, the mother cat

4
insisted him to eat his breakfast, he replied.

“No! Mama! I cannot eat this sandwich. I do not like eating

breakfast.”

He often made excuses of feeling not hungry and

sometimes fake pain in abdomen. He used to drink

a sip of milk and leave the table.

Sometimes he took only

one bite of boiled

egg and then ran out

to play with friends.

All he wanted to

not eat his

breakfast at all!

Mother cat was very worried. She knew Meow’s health

would become worse if he continue this bad habit.

5
Mother cat had brought many medicines to increase his

appetite but the result was disappointing as

always.

One day, Meow’s

ant came

to visit them

with her four

kittens. Meow was very happy. He

played all the evening with his cousins and ate

delicious candies brought by his ant.

Next morning, Meow’s cousins decided to have a running

competition. All the kittens stood in a row under the mango

tree.

When, the eldest cousin shouted, “Go!”

They all started to run quickly except Meow!

6
Yes! Meow tried hard to run but he was far behind his

cousins. Soon, he stared gasping and feeling tired.

His siblings, standing near the pond were cheering him

loudly.

“Meow! You can win. You can do it!”

But Meow at last, sat beside a bush while his cousins had

reached the apple tree, the goal of running competition.

They were calling Meow but he was not in mood of

answering them. He was sad and about to cry.

Soon after, when all the kittens entered the house chatting

and laughing, Mother cat instantly felt Meow’s sadness. He

was not even smiling. He went straight towards his bedroom

and slept.

After the dinner, mother cat entered Meow’s bedroom with

a cup of chocolate milk.

7
“Mama! Why couldn’t I win the race? Even, Peter was

running so fast and he is one year younger than me. How

could this happen, Mama? I never thought of losing in such

a pitiful way.”

Saying this, Meow started crying.“That’s because you don’t

eat your breakfast properly.

Therefore, your body has

become weak inside,

so you couldn’t run

fast like your

cousins.”

“Oh! Oh!” Meow was

shocked hearing his

mother’s words.
8
“My dear!” Mother cat lovingly patted his head and said,

“Always eat your breakfast in the early morning. It will make

you healthy, active and strong.”

Meow nodded.

Dear kids! When the next

summer came, Meow’s ant

came to visit them again. This

time, when all kittens ran for the

race competition, Meow’s siblings couldn’t believe their

eyes. Meow was the very first one who reached the apple

tree!

Yes! That’s because our Meow had been eating his

breakfast all year with his full heart and he was no longer a

weak or a lazy kitten!

Jimmy Bear and the Kind Honey Bee

My Dear! This is the story of a little bear whose name was

Jimmy. Jimmy lived with his parents, in a beautiful house on

a big green hill. Before, his

house was situated inside the

jungle, but that was not safe.

Every time when it rained,

the house was full of muddy

water. So, avoiding this

problem, Jimmy’s father

bear had built

another house high on the

green hill.

The new house was really a beautiful one! Its doors were

painted white and the walls were red. Beneath the

10
windows, the small plants of roses and jasmine smelled

delightful. Jimmy liked his new house very much.

One day! Jimmy’s mother bear gave him a little paper

saying the address of new house.

“My son! Learn this address by heart. It is very important.”

said mother bear.

“Okay! Mama!” replied Jimmy bear and put the paper in

one of his story book. Then he totally

forgot that piece of

paper.

One day, when Jimmy

woke up in the morning, he

heard a sound, “Binn

Binnninn” coming through the

window.
11
He peeked

through the

curtains and

found a cute

honey bee sitting

on the edge of

window.

“What are

you doing

here?” asked Jimmy.

“I am collecting fresh juice from the roses here.” Honey bee

replied putting a lid on her bucket containing flowers juice.

“May I have some honey?” asked Jimmy.

“Yes! But you have to come with me. I live inside the jungle

near the pond at an apple tree.

12
“Okay! I will come with you.” said Jimmy. Then he jumped

off his bed, wore a white coat and asked mother if he might

go inside the jungle.

“You can go but be careful. Lions are no more our friends

these days. And you must return home before sunset.”

“Okay Mama! I will be back

soon.”

Jimmy walked

with honey bee

for too long. Apple

tree was far away

situated deep in the jungle. But

he loved honey and wanted it at any cost. Though he was

feeling tired and hungry, he kept walking. At last, they

reached near the tree.

13
“Wait a short moment! I will bring you a bottle of honey.”

Said honey bee and went inside the honeycomb which was

hidden behind the green leaves.

After a few minutes, honey bee was back with a bottle full

of golden fresh honey. Jimmy bear was very happy. He said

a huge thanks to the kind honey bee and departed for

home.

Walking by the jungle for few minutes, he suddenly noticed

he was going the wrong way.

“Oh! I forgot the way. What should I do?” thought Jimmy

standing over a little bridge.

Meanwhile, an elephant passed by slowly.

“Big brother! Can you help me reaching my home?” asked

Jimmy.

The elephant smiled and nodded.

14
“What is your address?”

“My address.. its.. err err..”

Jimmy couldn’t not

remember his

address rather

he never

read it for

even once.

Deeply

regretting, he uttered.

“My old house was inside the jungle but the new one is at

the hill.”

“At which one? There are many hills.” asked the elephant.

“It seems you did not remember your address properly.”

Jimmy nodded sadly.

15
Suddenly he heard a sound.

“Bhinnn! Bhinninn!”

“Ahah! That is my friend honey bee!” he shouted.

“What are you still doing here? Why did you not go home?

Your mother would be worrying much.” Honey bee was

surprised seeing the little bear and got asking many

questions in the same breath.

“I forgot my way to home. Please

help me! ” asked Jimmy

regretfully.

“I was going towards that

green hill any way. One of my

Friend lives there. Follow me quickly.” The

kind honey bee said and began to fly.

16
That night, before lying down in his warm bed, our little

Jimmy bear had already learned his home address by

heart!

“On the Third Green Hill, Near the Grey Stones, Beneath a

Mango Tree, House Number Four.”

My dear kids! If you do not remember your address, please

learn it by heart right now. It is very important for you. God

forbid that you get lost your way to home, you must

remember you address. And yes! If you ever meet the kind

honey bee, you may want to visit

Jimmy’s house on the green hill

because his house is

as much beautiful as

yours!

Pingo Penguin and His Little Sister

My dear kids! This is the story of a small penguin. His name

was Pingo. He had pink webbed feet and stiff black

feathers. Pingo lived in a red house built on an icy shore. For

the last few days, Pingo was angry with his mother. Ever

since Pingo's little sister, “Gony”, was born, Mother had been

very busy. Pingo felt no one in the house loves him like

before! Everyone seemed quite

busy with little Gony.

This morning was not

different from previous

ones. Today too,

Pingo could see his

Mother preparing

milk for Gony.

18
Grandma was massaging her with olive oil while Grandpa

had gone to the market to buy Gony’s diapers.

It was dinner

time. When

mother

asked him to

quickly finish

the meal, he

suddenly

screamed.

"I will not eat. You don't love me. You only love Gony and I

don't like her at all.” Saying this, Pingo left the chair. While

going outside in the snow, he didn’t even wear his favorite

blue jumper knitted by grandma. Really, our little Pingo was

very sad!
19
"Pingo! My dear! Put on your jumper and cap. Otherwise

you will get cold.” Grandma said lovingly when she saw him

going outside. Pingo didn’t pay heed.

After a while, Pingo came in. He went to Gony’s room

where she was peacefully sleeping in her cradle. Pingo

came near the cradle, pulled Gony’s

pillow from underneath

her head

and threw it

on the floor.

Then he took her

blanket out and dropped it too.

Little Goni got up and started crying.

Mother came in running.

"Oh, Pingo! Did you wake her up?” she asked.

20
Pingo didn't answer and left the room. It took mother too

long to make Gony sleep again as she kept crying

apparently for no reason. Hence, she couldn't cook Pingo’s

favorite fish soup. Pingo became angrier.

Next morning, when Mother was busy upstairs, Pingo

thought.

“I should throw Gony out of the window.”

Thinking this, he came near the cradle and tried to lift Gony

but couldn’t. Then he started to stretch out her legs. Gony

became scared and cried loudly. Mother came down at

once and took Gony into her lap. Then she looked at Pingo

and studied his face intently for a moment.

After lunch, when Pingo was sitting near fireplace, Mother

took Pingo endearingly into her lap and said.

21
"My dear! At the present, your sister Gony is too young. She

needs me a lot. Soon, she’ll grow up. Then she will joyfully

play with you. Dear! Do you know once, you too were just

like Gony?”

Pingo was surprised to hear this. He stood up

and asked restlessly.

''Is that so! Mother! Was I

young too and had been

fed in the bottle? "

''Yes! My Dear!"

Mother replied with

deep affection and

Kissed him on his cheeks.

"Everyone is born a baby at first. As the time goes on, he

grows up and becomes a strong guy like you!” She added.

22
“And…! If you will love Gony, she might call you “My dear

brother when start speaking!”

Pingo started thinking.

Later that day, Pingo had been looking at Gony very

carefully. Gony was a beautiful baby

penguin and had delicate grey

feathers.

"Mom! Mom!” Suddenly Pingo

entered the kitchen and asked.

“You said Gony would play with me. But

she can't even walk. And look at me! I

can jump so high! Like this!" Pingo

said jumping and moving

his feathers up and down.

23
Mother smiled and said.

"Gony is going to hop with you very soon! Umm! Next winter

you will be able to slip on the ice with her.”

"Okay!" Pingo said gladly.

Finally the winter is here. If you can look far away at the icy

shores, you will find out our sweet Pingo running along with

his little sister Gony and joyfully sliding on their bellies!

My dear kids! Does your younger sister also call you “My

dear brother?” If so, give her a hug with deep love and

affection!

How Did Zooby Zebra Reach His Home?

My dear kids! This is the story of a baby zebra named Zooby.

Few days ago, Zooby’s mother enrolled him in a school. It

was the first school

opened in the jungle.

Zooby was very

happy. Today too, he

arrived at school

jumping and

shouting. When he

opened the bag, he

found that his homework diary was missing.

"Oh! What should I do now?” Zooby thought.

He totally forgot to prepare his school bag at night.

Meanwhile, Ma’am entered the class. She was an old

Zebra. Her name was Zilly. First, Ma'am Zilly took colorful
25
markers and drew a picture of a crocodile on the white

board. Then she started explaining how little zebras could

save themselves from a sudden attack of dangerous

crocodiles.

“Always go to the pond where there are

no crocodiles. Ask the fish first if the

water is not too salty.”

Saying this, Ma'am

Zilly noticed the little Zooby. He

was looking out of the window.

“Zooby! Stand up!

Tell me! If there is the crocodile in the

pond, what will be the color of water? ”

Ma'am Zilly asked.

Our little Zooby could not answer the question.

Suddenly there was a noise.

"Run! The lions are coming. Run!”

26
Ma'am Zilly put the lid on the marker and asked all the

zebras to wear their bags quickly. Then they left the school

running away from the lions. Soon, Ma'am Zilly was out of

breath. She was old and couldn’t run fast. Though she

wanted the little zebras be safe from the lions. So she kept

running.

When they came across the tall brown bushes, they all

stopped. The little zebras took long breaths. They were

feeling sad and tired. They were missing their parents.

Ma’am Zilly told everyone to bring out their homework

diaries. She wanted to call the parents of the little ones.

27
Phone numbers were written on the front page of their

diary. When Zooby’s turn came, he said.

"Ma’am! I left my diary at home."

"Oh! Do you remember your father’s phone number? "

Ma'am Zilly became worried.

''Phone number! Yes! … Err..!" Zooby

tried to

remember

but

couldn’t. He

reminded his

mother

who once said.

“You must remember Papa’s phone number. It is as much

important as staying away from crocodiles.”

"Come with me to my house. We’ll think what to do now.”

Ma’am Zilly said.

28
All the zebras had gone home with their father or elder

brothers. Only, Zooby was left. He was really about to cry.

Ma’am Zilly, so kind of her, kept telling him the story of the

naughty monkeys all the way to home.

Finally they arrived at Ma’am Zilly's house. It was located in

a big field. Ma’am went inside the house while Zooby stood

outside playing with the grass. He loved fresh grass.

After preparing soup for meal, Ma’am took out a file from

her drawer. It contained students’ contact numbers and

their addresses. Ma’am looked for Zooby’s father phone

number and called him immediately.

Zooby’s Father was very upset. When he heard about lions’

attack, he went straight away to find Zooby. Unfortunately,

He caught sight of his son neither at school nor in the tall

brown bushes.

Now, on receiving the call from Ma’am Zilly, he came

running. Zooby was drinking purple leaf soup. He heard his

29
father’s voice who was thanking Ma’am Zilly. Zooby put the

spoon back in the cup and ran towards him. Father leaned

forward and gave him a hug with intense love.

Dear kids! Zooby now remembers his dad's phone number

on his Tow Tips. That number will never go out of his mind.

Do you also remember Dad's mobile number? If not,

remember it and always have it in your mind. Today, you

are little and innocent so, you need your dad. When you’ll

grow up, your dad would need you. My dear! Even at that

time, remembering Baba's phone number will be as much

important as it is today!

The Lion Cub And The Red Butterfly

Dear kids! This is the story of a lion cub. His name was

Sheroo. Sheroo lived in icy hills. He was too lazy. He loved

lying in his bed for hours. Last Sunday, Sheroo’s friend, Bobby

Tiger came to visit him. Bobby was a tiger cub. He was

going to play at the

top of a nearby

hill. He had a

snowboard and

some snacks in his

backpack.

“Sheroo! Let’s go to

play in the

snow.” Bobby said.

Sheroo took a long

31
breath and gazed out the window at the icy hill. The hill top

was all covered with white snow. Sheroo felt colder and

wore the blanket more properly.

“Sheroo! We will enjoy a lot.

See! I have carrots

and caps too. We will

make beautiful snowmen

there!” Bobby said.

“No! Sorry.” Sheroo pulled a face. “I do not want to go. Only

thing I want to do in this cold weather, is reading books lying

in my bed.” Saying this, Sheroo looked for his story book

under the pillow.

Bobby went to hill top alone.

After sometime, Sheroo felt tired and slept.

When his mother, the lioness came in, Sheroo was sleeping.

“How lazy has he been! I must do something.” thought the

lioness.
32
The next morning, the lioness woke Sheroo up.

“Sheroo! Get ready! You are going hunting with me.” She

said.

“Oh! I feel sleepy. I do not

want catching those

naughty rabbits.”

Sheroo was about

to cry. He was not

ready to come out of

his warm blanket.

“Sheroo! You must go with me. We will hunt together.”

Lioness said firmly while folding his blanket.

Sheroo had to get ready.

While walking in the forest, Lioness met her friend, elephant.

She started talking with him. Sheroo felt bored and looked

around. Suddenly he noticed a beautiful red butterfly. She

was flying on the grass.

33
“I must catch this. So, I will show to my friends how fast I am!”

Sheroo thought.

He ran after the butterfly, calling out.

"I will catch you!"

Red butterfly was very clever.

“Sheroo! I know you are

too slow.n You cannot

catch me.” Saying this, she began

to fly faster.

But our little Sheroo

was determined.

He ran after

butterfly faster and faster. After a few moments, he

found out himself at the top of the snowy hill.

“Wow! Did I really reach at the top?” Sheroo was surprised.

“Mama would be waiting for me down the hill. Should I go

back?” Sheroo thought.

34

Meanwhile, he heard someone screaming.

It was his friend, Bobby Tiger.

“Oh! My Snowboard! Please catch it..”

Sheroo gaze fell on the snowboard and he quickly caught

it.

“Sheroo! You are so smart and nimble. How quickly you

ran!” Bobby praised Sheroo. Sheroo felt great. It was the first

time someone called him nimble and active.

"Would you like to sit on the board with me and slip on the

ice?" Bobby asked. Sheroo nodded. He grabbed the board

firmly from both sides and sat down. They both came down
35
into the forest, sliding and shouting. The lioness was

searching for Sheroo. She couldn’t believe her eyes. Sheroo

was quickly running towards herself.

“Mama! I enjoyed a lot. I had a great time.” Sheroo said

gasping in excitement.

My Dear kids, Sheroo now goes hunting every day and runs

very well. He has also made two snowmen at the top of the

hill. You will never see him lying in bed unnecessarily. If you

too want to be active and energetic, go for a morning walk

36
