III- Analysis
1. If there are four parts, the overall probability that the product will function properly is
0.90

Solution:

Formula: P( A ∩ B)= P (A) x P (B)

P (Working product) = 0.962 x 0.992

= 0.9033 or 0.90 is the overall probability

2. If there are three identical components, the minimum probability of performing needed
by each individual components is 0.97

Solution:

Formula: P3= 0.92

P3= (0.92) ^ (1/3) = 0.9726 or 0.97 is the minimum probability

3. The Three R’s stands for Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle which has a goal to prevent waste
and conserve natural resources. So, three R’s relate to sustainability because first, it
Reduce waste and improve the performance of the product or services that gives
satisfaction to the customer. Then, products should be reused when possible, or
remanufactured by replacing component and then be resold. And lastly, recycling
happens when we take materials that would normally be waste and give them up to be
manufactured or repurposed in a way that is eco-friendly. This all relates to
sustainability as it helps to reduce the impact on the environment and saves on costs by
reusing parts from the returned products of the recycling stage. It will also give us more
produced product because we tend to minimize the materials we used by reducing and
reusing parts of recycled materials.
4. Capacity planning helps businesses with budgeting and scaling so they can identify their
optimal levels of operations. Capacity planning helps determine how services are
offered, and the appropriate time frames and staff required to meet current demand
and cover all operational costs. So, capacity planning is important on deciding the
numbers of police officers or fire trucks to have on duty at a given time in order to have
a sufficient number of on duty on that specific time and also to avoid having lack of men
at times where they are needed the most. And also capacity planning will identify the
possible and probable number of officers through estimation and past experience. With
this we will always have available officers anytime and anywhere. Lacking of this will be
blamed to government who can’t make their jobs properly. What is the sense of their
education if they will minimize the employees just to have overflowing money, if it will
cost lives of citizens?
