Diwali, one of the most awaited festival, is truly the harbinger of joy and

prosperity. Amidst of the colourful hanging lanterns and creative diyas, I look
forward to travelling healthy route this Diwali. To convey my heartfelt best
wishes for your good health and happiness and also, to illuminate the spirit of
healthy living, I choose to offer vitamin D3 as Diwali gift.

Infectious disease COVID-19, that spread all over the world in winter and became
a pandemic, raised the question that insufficient the supply of vitamin D has
increased influence on the course of disease. Professor Laired et.al have shown in
their study that vitamin D deficiency causes the severe consequences of COVID-19
and acute respiratory distress syndrome associated with ventilation and death.
There are numerous studies that establish that optimizing vitamin D levels help
in combating corona virus. Vitamin D supplements have been shown safe and
effective against acute respiratory tract infections. On the basis of such
observations, in England, Scotland and Wales, public health bodies have
recommended that all adults should take at least 400 IU vitamin D daily. Apart
from reducing serious COVID-19 complications, optimizing vitamin D levels also
helps in the following:

- lowering cancer risk

- protecting against asthma
- strengthening bones and protecting against fractures
- lowering blood pressure
- boosting immunity
- improving your mood
- maintaining a healthy heart
- enhancing athletic performance
- promoting calcium absorption

As per my own clinical experience more than 50 percent of my patients suffer

from vitamin D deficiency. Though vitamin D3 helps to raise the vitamin D level
but there are some food that naturally contains vitamin D. UV radiations from the
sun is the best natural source of vitamin D. To optimize your vitamin D level
naturally, 50 percent surface area of your body should exposed to sunlight for 50
minutes daily.
All this made me think outside the sweet box. These tempting traditional sweets in attracting
alluring packs may increase the risk of
- high blood pressure
- inflammation
- weight gain
- diabetes
- fatty liver disease
- obesity
- heart disease
Wish You a Very Happy Diwali
