Boone, N.C., February, 2021 -Locally owned Holesome Donuts announced today
that it is planning to build a new manufacturing plant in the Philadelphia area.
Building of the new plant is expected to start in June, 2020 and be completed by
February, 2021. The location of the new plant will be established at 700 South
Osage Ave. in the West Philadelphia neighborhood of Powelton Village.
The Holesome decision to open in Powelton Village is based to some extent on tax
incentives offered up by the City of Philadelphia. James Kenney, played a
instrumental role in finding a common ground for the Holesome company and the
city of Philadelphia.
“We are excited to see everyone enjoy Holesome donuts as we do,” said Lonny
Strum, CEO and President of Holesome Donuts. “In addition to the plant, once in
full operation, we are expected to provide up to 700 full-time jobs.”
The construction is projected to cause mild traffic around the Powelton Village,
having been intermittently closed. Which applies to the 250 family homes are
located in the immediate vicinity of the plant.
Holesome has stated that they have plans to partner with Powelton Village
residents to revitalize the neighborhood. They also are considering establishing
scholarships for high school age residents to help them further their education at
nearby Drexel University.
James Kenney had this to say about the near future developments to Powelton and
the scholarship program at Drexel University. “I’m so proud to see local
companies like these take roots in our great city of Philadelphia”, adding “I see
great things from them quite soon”.
