I worked in the Set Pod and was tasked by Mr. Beal with leading two set crews for the scenes,
The Graveyard and The Landlady. I organized two group chats for the people working on these
set crews. In these group chats I organized call times (over facetime) and listed the
ideas/materials into categories, once this was done I would lead conversations in the pros and
cons for each piece and whether we should keep it. For each of my groups I volunteered to go
to the school and search for props that would match our desired set design. In The Graveyard
group I also volunteered my house to complete some prop making at.

One major challenge that all of my cohorts in the Set Pod experienced was the loss of the
hands on experience. Set is all about building and since we don’t each have the proper tools
and materials at our house we had to figure out an alternative. Creatively speaking we had to
simplify the depth of our designs since we couldn’t bring too much material to the place the
production was filmed, this caused many details that could connect the stories to be cut as well
as large pieces. One of the compromises I had to make was on the gravestone Valeria and I
made. I don't have the tools and skill set needed to carve my own gravestones from styrofoam,
so instead I used so old halloween decor and figured out I could use a fork (household item I
had access to) to shave the gravestone until it had the desire shape to it. I also found a sponge
that I use to wash my parents car and cut it in half allowing me to dip it in paint and give the
headstones a granite like texture.

Not only does this unique production give me skills and experiences that I can use in future
projects but it also provides me attributes that can help me become a more well rounded
person. Some skills I have acquired whilst working on this production are how to properly
connect with people when you can’t see them at school everyday and how to organize these
meetings via zoom, facetime with multiple people, professional email, and email forwards. I
have also obtained helpful attributes such as perseverance, professionalism, leadership, and
organization (I most definitely did not have that attribute before). The experience of doing all of
these things over zoom and email has prepared me for future jobs where I most likely will have
to use these skills again. I am very grateful to my mentors and teachers for the skills,
experiences, and attributes I have received through this production because it will better
prepare me for my future life.
