Agreement to Publish

The James Joyce Quarterly will publish your contribution, a review of Eugene Jolas:
Critical Writings, 1924-1951, in a forthcoming issue. The contribution will appear first
in print and later in electronic format.

As a condition of publication, you hereby grant and assign to the James Joyce Quarterly
all right, title, and interest of whatever kind in the contribution, including copyright for
the full term of all applicable copyright laws in the United States of America and
elsewhere, including all causes of action, prior or future, relating to the contribution. The
James Joyce Quarterly will protect the copyright of the contribution by registering
copyright to the issue of the journal in which your contribution appears.

Author’s License
In exchange for granting copyright to the James Joyce Quarterly, you (the author) hereby
receive a nonexclusive license to 1.) photocopy or otherwise reproduce the contribution
for use in your own teaching, 2.) republish the contribution in revised or unrevised form
in a book consisting entirely of your original work, and 3.) republish the contribution in
revised or unrevised form in any collection or anthology of essays of which you are the
editor. In exchange for this license, you hereby agree that you will credit the James
Joyce Quarterly as the organ of first publication and acknowledge the James Joyce
Quarterly’s copyright of the contribution.

Rights of the James Joyce Quarterly

The James Joyce Quarterly, as copyright owner of your contribution, will have the right
to 1.) publish the contribution in any medium, paper, electronic, and otherwise, 2.)
license abstracts, extracts, reprints, and translations of the contribution for publication in
the United States and elsewhere, 3.) grant nonexclusive licenses to third persons to
photocopy or otherwise reproduce the contribution for educational purposes, and 4.)
license other publishers to abstract, index, reprint, and otherwise reproduce the
contribution in print, microform, electronic, or any other format, including but not limited
to on-line databases and document-delivery services.

Warranties
You hereby represent and warrant to the James Joyce Quarterly 1.) that you are the sole
author(s) of this contribution, that it is entirely original work, and that you have the
power to enter into this agreement, 2.) that the contribution has not been previously
published, in whole or in part, except as you have informed the James Joyce Quarterly,
3.) that you are not bound by another agreement to publish the contribution except as you
have informed the James Joyce Quarterly, 4.) that you have made all reasonable
provisions to guarantee that all facts and statements in the contribution are true, and 5.)
that the contribution does not violate any known copyright, is not defamatory, and does
not violate any right to privacy.

Please sign and date this agreement and return the original copy to the James Joyce
Quarterly. We cannot publish your contribution until this agreement has been received.
