T
he prospect of a summer baby sometimes leaves
knitters puzzled, but here’s a simple project that’s just
perfect for little ones in warmer weather. This lovely light
gilet is worked in Peter Pan Baby Cotton DK, a wonderfully soft
mix of cotton and polyester – it’ll add a nice extra layer over the
chest without being too hot and stuffy. Toddlers will love this too,
as it looks gorgeous over a party dress. For a bit of extra detail,
try adding some embroidery or working it in soft stripes!

W
elcome this cute zebra toy to the family, and watch
your little one make a friend for life. He’s a lovely size
for cuddling, with the most squishable nose and
huggable body! This pattern is perfect for intermediate knitters,
as it’s worked on double-pointed needles and uses some shaping
skills, as well as a two-colour stripe pattern throughout. Choose
your favourite pastel shade for the contrast colour, or you could
select a brighter shade of Softee Baby to create a different look.

ast on these cute little bumblebee booties in time for
summer – they’re knitted in a cotton and acrylic blend,
which is lovely and cool for warmer days, but practical,
too. Designer Jane has brought more than a touch of charm to
this project. The striped body section is worked separately to the
head, and the two parts are then sewn together, with wings and
details added at the end. Our buzzy bees are sure to put a smile
on baby’s face as their little antennae bob about on wriggly toes!
