GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

I. ERIK ERIKSON (PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT THEORY)

Integrity versus Despair: Is the last stage of Erik Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development. This stage takes place during adulthood ages 65 and above. During
this phase, older adults reflect on the life they have lived.

 Integrity: Those who feel fulfilled by their lives can face death and aging proudly.
 Despair: People who have disappointments or regrets may fall into despair.

 The client met this stage because she said she is satisfied with her life. She stated that her only regret was not able to go to college due to financial problems
when she was younger. She is well-taken care of by her children.

II. SIGMUND FREUD (PSYCHOSEXUAL DEVELOPMENT THEORY)

Genital Stage: Full sexual maturity, function and development of skills to cope with the environment. The goal of this stage is to establish a balance between the
various life areas

 The patient’s current age is 74 years old. Basing on Sigmund Freud’s Psychosocial Development Theory, in this stage is called the Erogenous Zone: Maturing
Sexual Interests wherein the individual develops a strong sexual interest in the opposite sex. This stage begins during puberty but last throughout the rest of a
person's life. In my patient’s case, she has achieved this part since she is well-loved by her deceased husband and also has a caring children.
