Regional GAD Council VIII

Dear Sirs/Madams:

Happy New Year from UP Visayas Tacloban College.

We are pleased to invite participants from your council to attend the webinar “Women on the go! Tipping
the hidden gender data gap in (active and public) transport” to be held on 26 January 2021, at 2:00-4:00
PM, which we are organizing in collaboration with the Women in Transportation Leadership (WiTL)
network.

WiTL is the first knowledge network in the Australasian region dedicated to empowering women and
developing a critical mass of female leaders to address diverse transport challenges, particularly issues
related to gender and transport, to help achieve a more holistic and inclusive global community.

In “Women on the go!” WiTL members Dr. Anabel A. Abuzo of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan
(Philippines), Dr. Marie Danielle V. Guillen and Dr. Sheilah G. Napalang of University of the Philippines
Diliman (Philippines), Dr. Pawinee Iamtrakul of Thammasat University (Thailand), Dr. Ing. Masria
Mustafa of Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia), Dr. Trinh Tu Anh of University of Economics
HCMC (Vietnam), and Dr. Derlie B. Mateo-Babiano of University of Melbourne (Australia) will present
the results of a region-wide comparative research that probed into the hidden gender data gap in (active
and public) transport in select Southeast Asian cities (Bangkok, Cagayan de Oro, Ho Chi Minh City,
Kuala Lumpur, and Metro Manila). More particularly, they will share gender-disaggregated information
on the impact of COVID on travel and transport behaviour as well as its implications to planning and
policy in a post-COVID world.

The webinar will be conducted via Zoom. There are only 500 slots and participants must register at
https://up-edu.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_wGXDBXG8RkyuDWLXBxL2Zg on or before 22
January 2021. Certificates of attendance will be sent to participants who will provide feedback about the
webinar by filling in a post-activity evaluation form.

Safer and more inclusive spaces can be achieved not by women alone but through the collective efforts
of gender champions and key decision- and policymakers. We hope you can be part of this endeavor.
