Webinar on educational implementation

Progressive Punjab
15th January, 2021 1500 Hours
A session on educational implication was organized by Education world
in association with EduStart. A welcome and introductory note was said
by Summiya Yasmeen, managing editor of education world. The first
speaker of the webinar was Mr. Rana K.P. Singh Hon’ble speaker,
legislative assembly. He spoke about the part and role of Punjab in Asian
history. He talked about self sufficient Punjab, Warrior Punjab and Saint
Punjab all of which makes Punjab progressive.
In the first segment of the webinar titled ‘MAKING UP FOR LEARNING
LOSS OF CHILDREN’ Mr. Sumer Singh, former education advisor,
Government of Punjab, being the first speaker talked about the steps
taken to help students like, funds, solution for teacher absenteeism,
introduction of vocational subjects, internships, emphasis on sport,
classes on Door darshan Punjab etc. The next speaker Mr. Anit Arora,
Principal, Cambridge International School Dasuya, talked about losses
faced by students which include learning loss connection loss and an
emotional loss. Ms. Paramjeet Kaur Dhillon, Principal Kamla Nehru
Public School, later talked about possible solutions for overcoming this
learning loss which include adopting a village school, focus on service
learning, covering any gaps in this session for smooth sailing in the next.
The next segment of the webinar focused on ‘EVOLVING THE PERFECT
BLENDED LEARNING MODEL’ with Ms. Manjot Dhillon, Founder,
Mount Litera Zee School Amritsar, being the first speaker. She talked
about how schools had to evolve for every class, how flipped learning
serves as a catalyst for empowering the children and how coming up with
more collaborative and engaging ways to teach students is the solution.
Next, Mrs. Niyati Chitkara presented her viewpoint and talked about
how mobile is a great tool. She also talked about different CIS has
conducted various activities like a daily teaching nib, open book exams,
online polls etc. She also focused on how parents have become a part of
the learning and assessment system and how students are assessed in a
more challenging, intriguing, personalized but also threat free
environment.
Mr. Avneesh Singh, then presented his thoughts on ‘LEADERSHIP IN A
TRANSFORMED WORLD’ and talked about leadership under stress and
the process of being able to deliver blended learning experience in the
position we are. He was followed by Ms. Meenu Sahi who talked about
how students were not attending classes and the school came up with a
creative step and sent their students a box of material every month. The
pandemic gave the parents an opportunity to understand how much
effort schools and teachers take. Mr. Anirudh Gupta talked about
unemployment and how there is a mismatch between what is being
taught and what is the requirement of the job. So, a reconstructed
curriculum that fits the needs and focuses on skill development is the
solution. Mr. Ajay Singh expressed how teachers were the frontline
warriors in these tough times. They need proper breaks from teaching,
buffer time/personal time and need support from the parents and
school.
The session ended with a thank you note by Ms. Sapna Sukul. This was a
very informative, enlightening and constructive.
