Mr. Steven Downing:

I am writing to ask about an opening in your company, Gentex. I learned about your
company from two of my brothers, one who worked at your business for a period of time,
and the other who was recently an intern at Gentex. Both of them had great experiences
while working there and enjoyed their work and their time spent there. They suggested
engineering and Gentex as goals I should aim for after seeing what I enjoy doing and
what I can accomplish.

The range of skills I have can be from testing, adjusting, fixing, or operating machinery
and computer components to a range of skills required for working on a computer like
creating three dimensional images. I enjoy hard manual labor as well as complete menial
tasks. I also am capable of operating many different types of power tools required for
putting a structure together. I work well with other employees and I will learn from them
as well as help others in completing a project.

My best quality is that my work is always characterized by my desire for success. I am

the best candidate for your company because every task I do, from the hard physical labor
to the occasional menial task, I make sure it is done quickly and thoroughly. Also, I am
very organized and enjoy having an organized workspace and will spend time cleaning
my surroundings if it appears unsatisfactory to someone or to myself. Finally, I am also
able to critically think, memorize, and complete tasks quickly and completely which are
always helpful when there is a deadline. I plan to be a beneficial candidate for your
company by always applying myself to every task and always being respectful to other
employees. My career goals have always been about creating safe and reliable machines,
as well as improving machines for both time and money efficiency. The reason I am
interested in your company is because Gentex lines up with my goals.

My studies at Covenant Christian High School are preparing me with many of the skills
required to understand engineering which I intend to complete at a college level. I
excelled in Mechanical Drawing and I am taking Architectural Design and Applied
Science which were recently added to Covenant’s schooling program and are helpful for
understanding engineering. I am going to Grand Valley State University after I complete
my final year at Covenant Christian High School, and at Grand Valley I intend to
complete 4 years of engineering courses to obtain my Bachelors degree.
