Assignment 
In Week 6 and Week 7 lectures, respectively, you have studied the two most widely used printing
machines in the printing industry – the fully automatic flat screen printing machine and the rotary
screen printing machine.
In this homework assignment, you are required to compare the two printing machines on the basis of
following aspects;
1. Selection criteria: Under what sort of circumstances will you opt for installation of a fully
automatic flat screen printing machine? (Max 5 lines)
2. Installation issues: What factors need to be considered if a printer goes for installation of a fully
automatic flat screen printing machine? (Max 5 lines)
3. Operation and maintenance: Discuss the key differences in the operation and maintenance of a
fully automatic flat screen printing machine and rotary printing machine? (Max 5 lines)
4. Compare the fully automatic flat screen printing machine and rotary printing machine on the
basis of “control on printing effect”. This refers to the factors that affect the printing process and
how much control we have on these factors (Example; the different squeegee systems provide
us a different extent of control on the printing effect.) (Max 10 lines).
