This document provides instructions for creating plates using Method 1 in 3 steps. First, selecting the Add Plate option initiates a grid in the drawing area to layout the plate structure. Second, the directions of the global X, Y, Z axes are represented in the lower left icon. Third, the grid can also be initiated by selecting the Geometry | Snap/Grid Node | Plate menu option.

1. We selected the Add Plate option earlier to enable us to add plates
to create the structure. This initiates a grid in the main drawing area as shown below. The directions of the global axes (X, Y, Z) are represented in the icon in the lower left hand corner of the drawing area. (Note that we could initiate this grid by selecting the Geometry | Snap/Grid Node | Plate menu option also.)
