1. Business Travelers
their expenses are paid by the company they work for
They are working while traveling.
They choose accommodation close to where the busines
transaction/convention/conference is
The business traveler needs to remain connected to their clients and
colleagues during their business trip and requires constant access to
important files and emails. Providing internet connection is a must in the
hospitality industry.
2. Pleasure Travelers
This is the group of people who travel for vacation or pleasure, or to relax
In general, the leisure traveler wants to have the best deal for their stay. Not
necessarily cheap, but good value for money
B. Enumerate and describe the 9 types of pleasure travellers.
1. Solo Traveler (Relaxed and unconcerned)
The ones who have had enough of the familiar picture.
The ones who want to engage completely with their new surroundings, all alone.
The ones who bask in the glory of solitude and realize who they truly are.
Forces of nature are their only companion, which lets them report more vivid
memories from their trips. The ones with enhanced narration skills.
2. Urban Traveler (Smooth and Glossy)
These types know what they are doing.
They belong to the no-nonsense category.
They set off with a meticulously packed luggage and know their return dates.
They look slick and sharp.
The ones who have a thing for deep alleyways, bright city lights, museums,
cuisines, and bars.
These lots are probably holding corporate jobs, have their cabin decked in the
corner and brunch is quite possibly their favorite meal.
3. Nature Traveler (Style and Substance)
These types know what they are doing.
They belong to the no-nonsense category.
They set off with a meticulously packed luggage and know their return dates.
They look slick and sharp.
The ones who have a thing for deep alleyways, bright city lights, museums,
cuisines, and bars.
These lots are probably holding corporate jobs, have their cabin decked in the
corner and brunch is quite possibly their favorite meal.
4. The settler (firm and calm)
These are the ones who visit a place, fall in love with it and don’t return back.
They just nestle in there.
The exotic breed with no inhibitions.
They upgrade their conviction to match their destiny.
They have answers to all questions. They are fearless and have an exquisite
vision.
They just know how to belong.
5. Thrill Seeker (Bright and animated)
Adrenaline junkies who would probably be free runners in a city full of
skyscrapers if they let their imagination run wild. Nah, that’s a bit too much, ain’t
it? Nonetheless, you take them to a spot where thrill knows no bounds, this
notorious kind will spark into life.
They will make the onlookers envy them.
They are full of energy and exude some serious passion, which is contagious.
6. Passionately Curious (Freakish and outlandish)
The ones who breathe in and breathe out every second.
The ones who intend to turn every moment into a feast for all their senses.
The ones who make each day a new horizon.
The ones to cherish.
7. Pilgrim (Relaxed and Serene)
These traveler types find solace in religious shrines and everything else is
secondary.
The groupies, who find themselves right in the middle of everything, divide
religion and spirituality
8. Food Lover (Open and Broad)
These food rangers can master the basics of any language, thanks to some
serious love for food.
They value authenticity over anything else and can be found roaming the streets,
spoilt for the decision, not knowing what to choose as food in a different country
or a place is always scrumptious.
These types are close buddies with cab drivers.
9. Discoverer (Quirky and offbeat)
Wants to know or experience new things.
They want to experience something unfamiliar and leave with new skills or
knowledge.
Getting away from home gives you the opportunity to reflect on your life. You
have the needed time and space to let your mind wander and take stock.
Traveling is one of the best ways to learn more about yourself.
1. American Plan (AP) (Full Board)
Room rates quoted by the hotel/resort includes three meals, i. e. breakfast,
lunch, and dinner.
Meals are provided in the premises-dining area of the hotel
Not the same as All-inclusive plan – which includes snacks and alcoholic
beverages.
Advantages
• You can spend time touring. And less worrying about where to your next
meal is coming from.
• Breakfast will be waiting for you.
• Drinks with dinner. Normally beverages, including coffee, soda, beer, and
wine are included with meals.
Disadvantages:
• It’s not for foodies.
• It’s not for people with small appetites.
• You may not like the menu or the food itself. Some places offer a fixed lunch
and/or dinner menu that does not allow for substitutions or offer alternative
dishes.
• You may have to dine on their schedule, not yours
• Reservations may be required.
2. Modified American Plan (MAP) – Half Board
Quoted room rate includes two meals a day. Breakfast and either lunch or dinner
Provided at the hotel dining room.
Advantages
It should be cheaper than the three-meals-a-day American
It gives you the freedom to try other restaurant.
You have the convenience of knowing where your meals will be provided
Disadvantages:
It squelches your sense of dining adventure.
Food choices are typically limited
The food could be unappealing
Food is served during specified hours.
A boon for people with a small appetite
3. Continental Plan (CP)
The quoted room rate includes breakfast on the premises of the hotel for every
guest who occupies a room overnight. (Bed and Bfast)
4. European Plan (EP)
The quoted room rate is strictly for lodging and does not include any meals. Any
food provided by the hotel is billed separately.
Advantages
You are not limited to eating at the hotel
It’s easier to save money
It’s more romantic
You can still have breakfast in bed
Lunch in freestyle
Disadvantages:
Its harder to budget
No “free” breakfast
Foraging in lousy weather
Not every local restaurant is a winner
