, 2019 SHANZAY ABBASI SHANZAY ABBASI Can we change our personality type? (type A to type B)
Every personality type has its strengths and
weaknesses – Nobody is perfect. That being said, it is practically inevitable that at some point in life you will think about having a different personality. You may want to become more outgoing, more in tune with your senses, more organized, more patient and more resistant to criticism etc. Type A individuals tend to be very competitive and self-critical. They strive toward goals without feeling a sense of joy in their efforts or accomplishments. They seem to be in a constant struggle against the clock. They tend to be easily aroused to anger or hostility. Such individuals tend to see the worse in others, displaying anger, envy and a lack of compassion. People with Type B personality tend to be more tolerant of others, are more relaxed than Type A individuals, more reflective, go through lower levels of anxiety and show a higher level of imagination and creativity. According to most personality type theories, the individual’s type is inborn and can’t be changed. In any case, individuals can develop traits and habits that are different or are opposite of the type they are. However, you can try to change some of the aspects of your personality. And go a little from type A to type B personality. That can be done by:
Keep your hostility and anger in check.
Confide in your fellows about your concerns,
fears and problems.
Don’t live life by the clock. Cut off too much tension and stress about anything. Learn to relax by taking up hobbies.
Become a good follower.
Your basic personality type can’t be fully changed. However, you can change the aspects of your personality that you aren’t satisfied with by following the above point accordingly. By doing so, you will strengthen your shadow traits and become a more balanced individual, even though your dominant traits won’t change. Such a change could be triggered by either the environment and atmosphere you are living in or your own will.
