Andres Bonifacio (November


30 1863-May 10 1897)

▪ -a Filipino revolutionary leader and the


president of the Tagalog Republic
▪ -often called “The Father of the
Philippine Revolution”
▪ -one of the founders and later Supremo
(supreme leader) of the Kataas-taasang,
Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga
Anak ng Bayan
▪ -His wife is Gregoria de Jesus
Emilio Jacinto(December 15,
1875-April 6 1899)
▪ Born in Tondo, Manila
▪ He first studied at San Juan de Letran and
later transferred to the University of Santo
Tomas where he studied law
▪ At age 18, he joined the Katipunan leaving his
studies and being known as the brain of
Katipunan
▪ Kartilya ng Katipunan served as the guidebook
for new members of first edition of the Kartilya
was written by Emilio Jacinto.
Contextual Analysis
▪The Katipunan or samahang Kataastaasan
kagalang-galangan katipunan ng mga anak ng
bayan was the revolutionary society founded by
antiSpanish-Fiipino at Tondo Manila on the 7th
day of July 1892 . It was founded by Andres
Bonifacio.
OBJECTIVES
▪Political- separation of the Philippines
from Spain to secure independence of
the colony
▪Moral- focused on good manners,
hygiene and good character
▪Civic- based on the principle of self-
help and the defense of the weak and
poor. To achieve unit of the Filipino.
CONTENT ANALYSIS
Kartilya ng Katipunan is a set of principles that
shows the path on how each and every one of us
must live of lives by living to the fullest through good
values. The Kartilya ng Katipunan was made to
change the thoughts of every Filipino’s
unacceptable behavior. The Katipunan movement
frightened the Spanish and their supporters in the
country.
The Kartilya of the Katipunan
▪A life that is not consecrated to a large and holy
greatness is a tree without shade, if not a
poisonous weed.

▪Good work that comes from selfish desires and


not from a true desire for excellence is not
kindness.
▪Real piety is hard work and love for
fellowmen, and measuring each action,
labour and speech by true Reason.

▪Whether one’s skin be black or white, all


people are equal; it may be that each is
superior in knowledge, wealth, beauty but
there is no superiority in human dignity.
▪One who has a high inner spirit, puts honor,
goodness and virtue before self-interest;
one who has a lowly inner spirit puts self
interest before honor, goodness and virtue.

▪To the person with shame, his or her word


is sacred.
▪Do not waste time: wealth can be lost and
recovered; but time that already passes will
not pass again.

▪Defend the oppressed and fight the


oppressor.
Importance of the Kartilya ng
Katipunan
▪ It gave highlights to equality
▪ It reminded the Katipunero on the
values that he should have
▪ A Katipunero must value other
people's time
