What is the Kartilya ng Katipunan?

The Kartilya ng Katipunan is a significant


document associated with the Katipunan, it is a
Filipino revolutionary society that played a
crucial role in the Philippine Revolution
against Spanish colonial rule.

The Kartilya ng Katipunan is a significant


document in Philippine history that outlines the
principles and teachings of the Katipunan. It
reflects Enlightenment Ideals and Filipino
Cultural Values, emphasizing the importance
of unity, selflessness, and the defense of justice
and freedom.

Kartilya was made mainly for the
Katipuneros. Upon joining to be one of the
Katipuneros, members are required to read
the Kartilya and cling to its code of
conducts. To change the Philippines for
the better. Early Katipuneros believes that
changing the way Filipino thought and
acted was the most important things to be
considered.

The Kartilya ng Katipunan is written on


1892 by Emilio Jacinto and was published
by the year 1896.

Who is Emilio Jacinto?
Emilio Jacinto is the author of the Kartilya
ng Katipunan that is lead by Andres
Bonifacio on 1896.
Emilio Jacinto was a Filipino general
during the Philippine Revolution, he was
also known as “the Brains of the
Katipunan” and also “the Brains of the
Revolution”

He was born on December 15 1875


He died at the age of 24 on April 16, 1899

The Kartilya is one of the most well-known texts
of the Katipunan. It serve as a guide book for new
members, outlining the principles and teaching of
the organization. It was printed as a small
pamphlet and is one of the few surviving
documents from the Katipunan before the
revolution of 1896.

Importance of The earliest reference to the kartiliya yet to found


is in the minutes of supreme Assembly meeting
held in December 1895. The Kartilya was still in

the Kartilya: used during the first phase of the revolution, and it
may still used during the second phase of the
revolution, for a version survives in the
Philippine Insurgent Records that stamped with
the seal used by Artemio Ricarte in 1899 but
before Bonifacio was killed, he was planning to
print more copies.
It was used as an education tool within the
Katipunan, teaching new members about their
responsibilities and the goals of the organization,
it played a vital role in indoctrinating new recruits
into the revolutionary cause.
