What is humanities?
Humanities

Humanities comes from the Latin word “humanus” which means


human, cultured and refined. This is the study of the principle underlying
conduct, thought or a general principle about ethics, composure and

calmness This is the study of all languages and literatures, the arts such
as drama, architecture, history and philosophy.
This focuses on human beings and their appreciation of human
values and of the unique ability of the human spirit to express itself
through the arts. This is a channel for the human expression of feelings,
ideas, aspirations and others. This emphasizes the dignity and worthiness
of man and recognizes creative expressions
It is devoted to the unique value of the particular people within its cultural and
human contexts. It is concerned with the development of human virtue, in all its
forms, to its fullest extent. It implies understanding, benevolence, compassion,
mercy, fortitude, judgment, prudence, eloquence and love of honor.

What is Art?
 This is derived from the Latin word “ars” which means skill or
craft.
 This requires the use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic
objects, environments or experiences that can be shared with others.

This refers to visual artist, creative artist and performing artist.

Subject pertains to any person, object,
scene or event.
