Good day everyone! Today we are going to present to you our prototype proposal, Freed Proto-01 in
this study DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A DESICCATED FOOD SCRAPS BASED FEED PELLET PROCESSOR
WITH WIRELESS CONTROL AND MONITORING SYSTEM. Before we proceed to the prototype, we will give
you some insights to guide you on determining the significance of this study. Starting in Food wastes
and its general effects, food wastes such as vegetable peelings ,fruit peelings and food leftovers are
inevitable wastes came from food industry varying from restaurants, food processing companies and
even in our homes. It is inherently related to the rising challenges of food security, resource and
environmental sustainability and climate change. In developing economies, the main food waste stream
occurs at the consuming stage at the end of the food chain. According to Melody Melo-Rijk, WWF’s
Project Manager for Sustainable Consumption and Production in the Philippines, Unsustainable food
consumption and production, which leads to the generation of food waste, is one of the major threats to
our environment today. 70% of terrestrial biodiversity loss and 69% of global freshwater use are
attributed to unsustainable food systems and According to Edmonton (2018), Waste food that ends up
in the garbage, and eventually the landfill, creates methane that is 21 times stronger than carbon
dioxide. It is estimated that 7% of globally produced greenhouse gasses are caused by preventable food
waste.

Now we can proceed to the prototype design DESICCATED FOOD SCRAPS BASED FEED PELLET
PROCESSOR WITH WIRELESS CONTROL AND MONITORING SYSTEM. This will tackle topics such as the
study objectives, scopes, limitations and key features of the machine.

Counter measurements to food waste

Any of the missing food may be retrieved by donation programs and used to help combat food
shortages rather than waste. Contemporary treatment technologies may help turn food waste into
healthy, nutritious, and value-added food items. The recycling of food waste for animal feed is a feasible
option that simultaneously addresses the problems of waste management, food preservation,
conservation of water, and pollution and climate change mitigation Food drying is a common way to
preserve leftover food which can be processed as animal feed. Drying extracts moisture from food in
such a way that bacteria, yeasts, and molds cannot expand and spoil the food. It also slows down the
action of enzymes, but it does not inactivate them.
