1. INTRODUCTION
COLOSSIANS 1:26-27
26 THE MYSTERY WHICH HAS BEEN HIDDEN FROM AGES AND FROM GENERATIONS, BUT NOW HAS BEEN
REVEALED TO HIS SAINTS.
27 TO THEM GOD WILLED TO MAKE KNOWN WHAT ARE THE RICHES OF THE GLORY OF THIS MYSTERY
AMONG THE GENTILES: WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY.

From The Beginning Of Creation God Has One Purpose, To Create A People Like Him, And A Place On The Earth
Where He Can Dwell With Them. The Hope Of This Plan's Fulfillment Is CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY.

1. Ruth Ward Heflin defines the glory as “the revelation of the presence of God. It is the manifestation of His
presence. He is glory. He is everywhere, but glory is the manifestation of that reality … When glory comes
down, it’s a bit of Heaven’s atmosphere coming down to us, a taste of His manifest presence.”
2. Glory is the atmosphere of heaven, it is the presence of God, and it is the manifestation of all the Excellencies
of God, including his goodness. If we want to glorify God we need to live excellent lives
3. On Pentecost the glory of God moved from the Temple into His people. The Holy Spirit now lives in us, with all
the glory of the Lord. And as we worship the God of glory, we are creating an atmosphere for His tangible
presence and glory to be made manifest and change us so we become like Him.

2. MYSTERY
1. We like a mystery film where we try to work out what is going on and sometimes guess who done it.
2. Authentic Christianity is an inexplicable mystery to many people, because Christ is a mystery.
3. Our intimate personal relationship with Him is a mystery to the world.
4. The biblical meaning of mystery is that it can only be made known by divine revelation in a manner and at a
time appointed by God.
5. In the ordinary sense a "mystery" implies knowledge withheld; its scriptural significance is truth revealed
(Colossians 1:26)
6. From the above verse, the mystery is CHRIST IN YOU THE HOPE OF GLORY
7. The great mystery of God is Christ Himself. Christ is Himself the grand mystery of redemption.
8. The great mystery of Christianity is that of Christ formed in individual souls, CHRIST IN YOU.

ILLUSTRATION 1 – MYSTERY OF THE GLORY OF GOD

 How many times have we read the bible and even know the verses off by heart.
 One day you read a verse you know so well and suddenly it becomes alive to you. This is the point where it
moves from head knowledge to heart knowledge.
 I have been a Christian for 17 years and read the bible through about 5 times, however it is only now that I am
getting revelation about glory and it’s almost embarrassing to admit how I could have missed it all this time
when it seems to be so obvious.

3. CHRIST IN YOU
1. Christ in me is the most certain thing in all our personal experience. He is present in our inner life.
2. Christ means the appointed, chosen or anointed of God. In the Old Testament, the three major offices of king,
prophet and priest were anointed by God. The use of the title Christ suggests not merely the presence of the
Jesus in us, but also the work of Christ in us.
3. Christ in me as King, we find our freedom by being in submission to His sovereign hand over our lives. Christ is
me is a king demanding our loyalty as we worship only Him as Lord and Master and as His servants we go out
to serve.

2
4. Christ in me as Prophet. A prophet is one ‘who proclaims the divine message’, ‘the one to whom and through
whom God speaks. The divine message is contained in the bible. Christ in me is a prophet teaching us His way,
giving us His direction so we can proclaim His message with clarity and boldness. (1 John 2:27)
5. Christ in me as Priest. The high priest was allowed to access the presence of God in the Holy of Holies.
Through the intermediation of Christ by his shed blood, which is in us, we have personal and immediate access
to the presence of God. As Joyce Meyer said we do not need to reach out but reach in.
6. Christ in me means Christ experienced in all His power. We were without spiritual strength until Christ came
into our lives. In the bible you will find the connection between the anointing, power and the Holy Spirit, it is
the Holy Spirit who gives you power and He also resides in you. (1 Corinthians 6:19)
7. Christ in me means His filling me with His wonderful presence, He transforms my person until I become like
Christ.
8. Christ in me means honour and glory. He glorifies the place where He dwells.
9. Christ in me gets eternity into the picture. He gets my mind off my past through the forgiveness of my sins
and into the present as He lives within me and into the future as I concentrate on my blessed hope in Him
alone
10. "I am the Body of the Anointed One. He is living right now in me!"

I JOHN 4:4
YOU ARE OF GOD, LITTLE CHILDREN, AND HAVE OVERCOME THEM, BECAUSE HE WHO IS IN YOU IS GREATER
THAN HE WHO IS IN THE WORLD.

ILLUSTRATION 2 – THE LION KING

 Scene from the Lion king where the hyenas are taunting the young lion and asking for a fierce some growl.
 When he growls they hear a very large one to find that his father is right behind him.
 The hyenas did not fear the lion cub, but they feared his father.
 The devil and his demons do not fear us, but they certainly fear Christ in us.

ILLUSTRATION 3 – THE BOXING SCENE

 Belief is that it is us against Satan
 If that was the case he would win hands down.
 Instead it is Christ in us against Satan, Satan has no chance

4. HOPE OF GLORY
COLOSSIANS 3:4
WHEN CHRIST, WHO IS OUR LIFE, SHALL APPEAR, THEN SHALL YOU ALSO APPEAR WITH HIM IN GLORY
1. Hope means a favourable and confident expectation; it has to do with the unseen and the future.
2. Hope describes the happy anticipation of good and the ground upon which the "hope" is based, "Christ in you
the hope of glory"
3. The full glory of the inheritance was a hope, to be realised when Christ should appear.
4. We shall have glorified bodies just like the resurrected body of Christ when He appears in glory.
5. Christ in us is not only the hope of my glory, we are also the hope of His glory, in that people who are the only
part of God’s creation made in His image are expected to give God glory. If we do not glorify God, who else is
going to.
6. Christ in us is the hope of glory for those around us, if we allow Him to be

ILLUSTRATION 4 – ROGER
1. Some of Tony Campolo’s friends complain to him when he talks about compassion for the homosexuals, saying
that he is making a big deal about it.
2. What they do not realize is that he is trying to make up for an incredible failure during his high school days.
3. There was a boy in his high school named Roger and he was a homosexual.

3
4. Tony and his friends made his life miserable, making fun of him.
5. Roger could never go into the showers after the physical education classes because of what they would do to
him.
6. One day when Tony Campolo was not there, some of the boys dragged Roger into the shower room and
humiliated him.
7. That night Roger went to bed around 10 O’ clock, at 2.00 in the morning he went and hung himself.
8. This was a turning point in Tony Campolo’s life since he realized he had not yielded to God.
9. If Christ in Tony had been the hope of glory, he would have stood up for Roger, but Tony was afraid to stand
up for Roger because of the implications to his reputation.
10. Roger might be alive today if Tony had allowed Christ in him to be the hope of glory for Roger.

ILLUSTRATION 5 – MY AUNTY
1. One of my aunties made my mum’s life miserable every time she went to Kurunegala.
2. I was furious with this and told her husband I would not tolerate this any longer.
3. As a result of that anger I had nothing more to do with them
4. It became apparent to me that this unforgiveness towards my aunty was not helping me and therefore did the
right thing by forgiving her, since by holding her in unforgiveness, I was actually hurting myself.
5. Recently she got cancer, although I had forgiven her, it was important that I visited her in hospital.
6. When she saw me, fear came upon her, because she thought that I was going to hurt her.
7. I prayed for her healing with another relative and left, knowing that we can now have a fresh start in our
relationship.
8. Christ in me needs to be the hope of her glory, otherwise she will go to hell in her current state and I would
not want anyone to end up in hell because of me.

5. GLORY OF GOD IN THE FACE OF CHRIST

2 CORINTHIANS 4:6
FOR IT IS THE GOD WHO COMMANDED LIGHT TO SHINE OUT OF DARKNESS, WHO HAS SHONE IN OUR HEARTS
TO GIVE THE LIGHT OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD IN THE FACE OF JESUS CHRIST.
1. The New Testament repeatedly links the revelation of the glory of God to everyday life and the trials we all go
through. We are to do everything for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). Our sufferings and light afflictions
are contrasted against the glory. (Romans 8:18, 2 Corinthians 4:17)
2. The purpose of our trials and the revelation of God's glory are not to reveal to the world what good Christians
we are, but to reveal to the world what a great Savior Jesus Christ is. God's glory and His person are one and
the same.
3. If you're struggling with your trials, in the midst of your trial, whatever it may be, hold fast to a true knowledge
of who Christ is in you. See past the false condemnation, defeat and despair to "the knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Christ".
4. God not only wants us to experience and enjoy his glory, he wants to give us the knowledge of it as well. This
knowledge is found only in the face of Jesus Christ. The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of
God and we play a big part in that.
5. We are invited to experience his glory by looking at his face. The face represents the person of Jesus or
intimacy with God, the hand represents God’s blessings. The Christian’s experience is that as we have
fellowship with Jesus, his glory shines in us just as the glory of God shone in Moses as the result of speaking
with God face-to-face.
6. When we speak our faith to others, they see our faces and behold the glory of God in the human face of
Christ.

ILLUSTRATION 6 – THE GOLDSMITH

1. When a refiner digs gold out of the ground it is not the gold you wear on your neck. It is fused together with
other metals and impurities. Gold has one of the highest melting points of all metals.

4
2. In purifying the gold, the gold is placed into huge vats and melted down into a liquid form, during this melting
stage, any impurities and dross within the gold will begin to make their way to the top of the gold and begin to
float on the surface of the gold
3. The refiner would then take a ladle and scoop up the impurities and dross from the gold. By doing this, the
gold becomes purer and more valuable.
4. Another trick the refiner would use to further purify the gold is to make the temperature of the fire hotter. By
doing this, the refiner would discover more dross and hidden impurities that would not have been revealed at
a lower temperature and repeat the process of taking a ladle and scoop up the impurities and dross from the
gold creating a more purer and valuable gold than the gold which was refined at a lower temperature.
5. The refiner knows when the gold is pure, when he sees his face in the gold.
6. Malachi 3:2-3 talks about the coming of Jesus and how he will be like a refiner's fire. He will purify the Levites
(that's us, the priesthood of God) and refine them like gold.
7. As children of God, like gold, we experience heat that melts us into a spiritually liquid form. However, like the
gold, the heat present is hot enough to force our impurities to the surface level where it can be seen by
ourselves and others where we can obtain assistance from God to remove the sin and impurities from our
lives in order to be a purer and holy child of God.
8. Like the gold that becomes purer and purer, we become more like the image of the likeness of Christ and less
and less of the selfish and sinful nature.
9. The heat generated is hot enough to bring out the impurities but the heat generated is not hot enough to
consume us.
10. The purification is completed when the image of Christ is reflected in us. When God can look at us and see
himself then we are made pure. However, this is a continuous process because we, unlike real gold, are
constantly becoming impure again.

ILLUSTRATION 7 – SHINE JESUS SHINE SONG

Verse 1

Verse 3
As we gaze on your kingly brightness, so our faces display your likeness. Ever changing from glory to glory,
mirrored here, may our lives tell your story. Shine on me, shine on me

6. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE GLORY AND THE ANOINTING

I JOHN 2:27
BUT THE ANOINTING WHICH YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM HIM ABIDES IN YOU, AND YOU DO NOT NEED THAT
ANYONE TEACH YOU; BUT AS THE SAME ANOINTING TEACHES YOU CONCERNING ALL THINGS, AND IS TRUE,
AND IS NOT A LIE, AND JUST AS IT HAS TAUGHT YOU, YOU WILL ABIDE IN HIM.
1. Glory means weight, splendour and honour, whereas Anointing means to pour on, smear all over or rub into.
2. The anointing makes us preach and worship better, whereas the glory transforms us. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
3. The purpose of the anointing is to make the transition from flesh into glory. The anointing makes the flesh feel
good, whereas when the glory comes the flesh does not feel comfortable, we are weakened by his presence
and all we can do is behold his glory.

5
4. The anointing of God is the manifestation of the power of God. The anointing breaks the yoke, whereas the
glory of God is the manifestation of His attributes, of His person, of His nature. (Isaiah 10:27)
5. His presence and His power go together. We do not separate His power from His presence or His attribute
from His presence. When the Person of the Holy Spirit comes to live in you, we receive His presence; we also
receive power, which is the anointing. (1 Corinthians 6:19)
6. The manifestation in the glory is with an ease is because it is not coming from what is inside of you and on
you, rather, it is coming from what is from inside of Him. The atmosphere of the glory of God can carry you.
When you minister under the anointing, when you finish ministering, you feel tiredness because the work was
coming from inside of you.

ILLUSTRATION 8 – THE DOOR HANDLE AND THE POWER LINE

1. When we walk across a carpet on a cold day and then touch a door handle we will get a spark.
2. When we grab a 220-volt power line with our bare hands we will also get a spark.
3. In both cases the power behind the spark is electricity and they come from the same source but they differ in
power, purpose and scope
4. One will just give you give you a spark but the other one has the potential to kill you. That is the way it is with
the anointing and the glory.
5. In the Old Testament, the high priest knew that God’s glory wasn’t something to trifle with. If he entered
God’s presence in presumption or sin, he wouldn’t be walking out of there.
6. The New Testament equivalent of this would be repentance, brokenness and humility before the Lord.
7. The apostle Paul said that no flesh should glory in his presence (1 Corinthians 1:29). God’s glory and our flesh
cannot mix; our flesh will need to die before the glory can come.

7. CONCLUSION
1. We're not only cheating ourselves, we're cheating the world when we don't live in God's glory. For when God's
presence is manifest, the world is changed. Sinners get saved. Lives are forever altered.
2. God lives in me so whatever I have to face today I Can handle it.
3. One way we can sense the Presence of God, if we can slow down, we try to fix God into a box and if he does
not do anything during that time, then it’s too bad.
4. Father, in the Name of Jesus, I believe that the Anointed One, the glorified Lord Jesus, resides in me by Your
Spirit. I believe, Lord, that You can reveal that truth to me in such capacity that I will lay aside everything
that hinders or holds back the flow of Your Spirit through me. I thank You Lord, that as Your Church, we will
become a Body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself. And as Your Body, we will do all the works of
Jesus so that the fullness of Your presence and Your glory will be plainly revealed through us, the Church, all
over the world. I expect You to do in us superabundantly above all that we can ask, desire, think or hope.
Because the Anointed One is in us, from this moment on, I will begin to expect Your glory! Amen.
