MODAL AUXILIARIES

- Modal Auxiliaries adalah kata kerja bantu yang selalu diikuti kata kerja pertama.

- Modal Auxiliaries memiliki fungsi dalam kalimat yang berbeda

- Expressing an Ability
Example : She can sing beautifully.

- Expressing a Permission
Example : Can i come to your house?

- Expressing a Possibility
Example : He can be in the class now.
- COULD
- The past tense of Can
Example : Mary could sing a song when she was young.
She could not come here yesterday because she was ill.

- Request politely
Example : Could you help me now?
Could you take that book for me?
- Possibility
Example : She could be at home now, but she usually plays volleyball.
He could be very busy at that time.

- WIL

- Expressing a certainty
Example : I will go to Jakarta next week.
She will come here soon

- Promise
Example : I will ask her if I see
I will tell you if I understand

- WOULD

- The past tense of the Will


Example : He would be punished before he escaped.
She knows that it would be pleasant in Bali.

- Request and offers are politely


Example : Would you please help me?

- If combined with ”LIKE” indicate passion or desire.

Example : I would rather be a doctor than a president.
