extreme sports gains popularity. So, what exactly are extreme sports?
When you are finished, compare your list with your classmates.
Part 2 - Video

4. A lead paragraph with a lead sentence that attracts the reader’s interest.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Super Jean! Montreal citizens may have noticed unidentified flying objects over
their city this past week, but it was all part of the first ever sky surfing competition won by Jean Bouchard from
Chicoutimi. “It’s a dream come true,” said the 25 year old extreme sport enthusiast as he accepted his cheque for
twenty-five thousand dollars. Bouchard jumped fifteen times and easily out distanced the twelve other contestants
from around the province.
5. General information
Sky surfing is a relatively new sport and yet another example of human beings attempting to push themselves to
their physical limits. Sky surfers leap from small airplanes with a surf board strapped to their feet and a parachute
strapped to their back. Judges watch as the athletes attempt a variety of breathtaking pirouettes. Similar to ice
skating, sky surfers perform pre-established routines with exactitude and grace. Only at the last minute do they
open their parachutes and float to the ground. Timing is everything. A big mistake could end in a death or serious
injury.
