I. Background of the Issue

Culture is the invisible bond which ties people together. It refers to the pattern of human
activity. Culture is related to the development of our attitude. Our cultural values influence how
we approach living and serve as the founding principles of our life. They shape our thinking,
behavior, and personality.

In the Philippines, Filipino values tell people what is good, useful, beautiful, desirable,
and many more. Filipino values may be attributed into many influences, basically from their
ancestors and colonizers. Their culture also influenced their values such as religions, customs,
beliefs, courtesy and so on. The Filipino values can best be seen from the aspects of personal and
social relationships. Filipinos are friendly and hospitable. They love to mingle with people
particularly with friends and relatives. However, most of the generation now does not have these
values and does not care about our culture. We have to teach them more about our culture and
values.

Our culture and our values define our being Filipino. If we cherish our culture and values
