Chronicle of Peopling of the Philippines: A Reflection

The Philippines is known for its undeniable beauty and countless

resources. The country is also known for its hospitable citizens and its history.
The Philippines is indeed beautiful outside and inside the heart of the Filipinos.
But, have you ever wondered when the Philippines peopled? Have I ever
wondered?
Upon watching the video and reading the context below it, I just realized
something that I missed to think about; it is when was the Philippines peopled
and how come that we, Filipinos are a mixture of races. I discover new things
and unravel the twisted threads about the history of the Philippines and the
country itself, though it is not as detailed as I expected. But, it imparted new
points to ponder.
One thing that I have realized as I pay attention to the video is that history
never started from the day that Ferdinand Magellan and his crew arrived at one
of the islands of the Philippines. Maybe, it is the biggest misconception that the
students probably know. I solely believe also that our history started when
Spaniards came. But it will never be the beginning as soon as I realized that
there are already people living on the islands before the Spaniards reached the
Philippines.
The Philippine archipelago has always been a home for the people across
Southeast Asia. Their influence on our culture and appearance is undoubtedly
visible. It has been a place for maritime trade and a country that was colonized
multiple times by the conquerors before. The Philippines has it is an astounding
past but somehow a tragic history that builds up and created the nation and the
stand that the Filipinos and the Philippines now.
