metaphors, and his character is confident, charming, and caring.

*Personality Traits

Augustus waters are handsome, and he knows it, but his signature charm is endearing rather than
arrogant. He is driven by his selflessness and empathy, especially when it comes to his girlfriend
and best friend Hazel, and Isaac. Gus is honest and vulnerable and never fails to say what is on
his mind. Ultimately, his deep love for Hazel helps him understand that you do not have to leave
behind a legacy to live a meaningful, love-filled life.

*Background

Gus is Isaac's best friend and the boyfriend of one of the main characters Hazel Graces. Gus was
diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer, which causes removing his one leg.
After his leg was removed, he joins into remission, where he met Hazel Grace. Like Hazel,
August is concerned with life and death, but his biggest concern stems from fading into oblivion
after he dies. Because of this fear, Augustus is obsessed with doing heroic things with many
people, most spacially to Hazel Grace and Issac. Augustus completed his heroic act when most
especially when he got a relationship with Hazel Grace. In the end, their relationship prevents
him from fading into oblivion.

*Internal Conflicts

The internal conflict of Augustus Water in the story is that when Hazel Grace was in the hospital,
he had known that his cancer has returned, and he hides it from her that causing a great feeling of
guilt.

His Ex-girlfriend also died from cancer, haunted by her death, and always miss her.

*External Conflicts

The cancer return towards the end of the novel which causes of his death and he only have one
leg terrible driver and terrible in walking with a prosthetic leg.
