Edictum Manifesto Information

A manifesto is defined as a published declaration of the intentions, motives or views of an

individual, group, political party or government whosoever issues it.

An election manifesto usually contains the declared ideology of a candidate concerned in

general and its policies and programmes for the constituency and people at large. It serves
as a reference document or benchmark for the public at large for what a candidate stands
for. By comparing these policies and programmes, electors can decide which candidate they
should vote for to meet their expectations and aspirations.

Manifestos usually contain (but are not limited to): basic ideology, measures for social
security coverage, education issues, economic policies, healthcare, environmental issues,
etc.

like state highways and roads connecting small towns in the state need repairs every
year. There is a national sanctuary in the district of which a part also falls inside the
Limapur constituency. This sanctuary is an eco-reserve, the area of which falls under
this state and a neighbouring state.

12. Major Current Issues:
(i) The Limapur bypoll is being conducted with twenty other constituencies in the state
only one year after the assembly constituency elections as the Member of Legislative
Assembly (Limapur) was killed in a carjacking incident. The seat was thus vacant.
(ii) There is news of a new quarry being opened up near the national sanctuary. The
quarrying here will affect the health of protected species, disturb the ecological
balance of the area and has caused some furore in the assembly of the neighbouring
state where the sanctuary also lies. However, the youth of Limapur are very happy as
a large quarry site will provide opportunities for jobs and supporting businesses to
flourish.
(iii) People of the neighbouring state, agitated on the future damage to the national
sanctuary have blockaded the national highway that supplies goods to Limapur and
there is a massive protest by residents of Limapur because their daily supplies have
been cut off.
(iv) People of Limapur have been demanding a speciality lung hospital in the town and
people affected by Silicosis and COPD are unhappy about the new quarry being
planned near town.
(v) The State govt has announced a grant of INR 20 lakhs to set up a higher education
institute in the state. The grant would be given to the Assembly constituency that
shows most development and crime reduction over the next year. Many residents of
Limapur are interested in this scheme and it matters to them to win this grant.
(vi) The monsoons are predicted to be above normal this year and are 7 months away.
Experts have predicted floods for the region Limapur is in, affecting crops and
infrastructure.
