Question 1

Based on personal performance and expert feedback, one of the missed questions is

asking the patient whether she had breast lumps and discharge. While Mrs. Cross has a history of

lumpy breasts, it is important to investigate the issue further as Bickley and Szilagyi (2012) note

that such palpable lumps or tenderness are common among women. Another missed question is

asking whether the patient had breast retraction or skin dimpling, a major indicator of

inflammatory breast cancer. Asking the two questions helps provide additional information

relevant for diagnosis.

Question 2

A performed a skin assessment as part of the physical examination. However, this

assessment was not needed for this specific patient. The skin assessment was done as part of the

full annual physical assessment that was conducted, an undertaking that the expert feedback

indicated as of no great importance.

Question 3

My list of findings as based on the patient’s information was wide. However, a key

finding was cysts or breast lumps. These lumps vary in size and texture even though most are

benign. While many physical tests could be undertaken to evaluate the findings, Goolsby, and

Grubbs (2018) indicate that inspection and palpation is an effective test. Inspection involves

observing the breast and comparing the symmetry while palpation involves the use of fingers or

hands to examine the size, location, tenderness, texture, and consistency or a lump in the breast.

Question 4

While I highlighted the reproductive category as the correct assessment, I missed the

cardiovascular category. Carolyn is at risk of hyperlipidemia as indicated by her labs which

according to Osborn (2017) would increase the risk for cardiovascular diseases and especially

coronary heart disease.

Question 5

Based on my performance and the expert feedback, I missed the type II diabetes as a

differential diagnosis. As Dansinger (2017) points out, an individual who is overweight or obese

is at increased risk of developing type II diabetes. In the case of Carolyn, she had a BMI of 27.5

which is above 25, a value considered for those who are overweight.
