Bottlenecks:
For Mc Donald’s the buns and the patties are cooked on the conveyor broiler so it takes
fixed time on the conveyor broiler. It takes 90s for patties to be cooked on both sides before
For the Burger king the bottle neck is in the assembly since the generic product is made and
stocked at some point in the process. These generic products are then finished based on
actual process.
For Wendy’s bottle neck is in the cooking process because the process starts with the
cooking of the patty which is a little slower. So, patty is taken from grill and then hamburger
is assembled.
Solution:
In order to solve the bottle necks for Mc Donald’s the process should be faster so that buns
and patties are cooked side by side instead of one taking the fixed time before cooking of
the other item. Improvement in process engineering is required for Mc Donald’s. For Burger
King the assembly process can be improved by using system that could respond to customer
order entry without delays. For Wendy’s the cooking process of patty is slower, the pace of
