Overview:
USB Sentinel Bitlock
Theta Enterprises’ product licensing security for both the new 32-bit Products and the 16-bit SuperPro Edition products can now be
implemented using a USB “Portable Sentinel” approach. A License Key, consisting of an encrypted string of numbers, specifies
the particular software products licensed. The Key is also tied to a specific Sentinel Bitlock attached to a USP Port on your PC. All
that is required is to install the License Manager software and input the License Keys on the computer.

The USB Sentinel bitlock must be connected to the computer and the Sentinel System Drivers installed. A License Key Manager
program provides for entry of the License Keys for the products purchased.

The products can be installed on any PC using the following operating systems:

• Windows XP Professional/Home
• Windows 2000 Professional
• Windows ME
• Windows 98
• Windows NT 4.0 Workstation
• Windows 2003 Server
• Windows 2000 Server
• Windows NT 4.0 Server
1. Installation CD
When installing with the Theta Software Suite CD, select the “Stand-Alone Version for USB Sentinel” option. The “Stand-
Alone Components” screen will appear and you can select the Sentinel Driver, USB License Key Manager and each Product that
you purchased. There is no use in installing products that you did not purchase since they will not run without an appropriate
license key.

Installing Sentinel System Drivers

If installing from the Theta Software Suite CD

It is best to simply accept all the default options during installation. Even if you have already installed the Sentinel Driver in the
past, you might want to select this so that you get the latest release. All of the products and all types of Sentinels use the same
copy of the Sentinel Driver.

If installing from Web Download

Download the Sentinel Driver from the Theta Enterprises Website download page:
http://www.gotheta.com/support/download.html and run the installation program to install it on your PC. It is best to simply
accept all the default options during installation.

Installing Theta License Key Manager Software

Installing from the Software Suite CD

It is best to simply accept all the default options during installation. This will install the “License Key Manager” program and put
a new icon on your desktop.

Check the option for installing each Product that you purchased. As each product is installed it is generally advisable to just
accept the defaults. Upon completion, they will be listed in the Programs list available from the Start button in Windows.

2. Installing the License Keys

An advantage of the Theta License Manager software is that you can add additional product licenses without having to make any
changes to Sentinel bitlocks or current installed software products.

On your computer, be sure you have attached the USB Sentinel bitlock to an available USB Port.

1. Click the Start button, select Programs, locate Theta Software and the “Theta License Key Manager” application. If you
have it as an icon on your Desktop, it will look like:

2. The License Key Manager screen displays any License Keys that you have already installed for other Theta products and it
has an input box for adding new Keys.

3. When you purchase a new product, you will be shipped a License Key consisting of a long string of numbers like the ones
shown above. These are unique to the Sentinel bitlock that was issued to you.

To add a new License Key, simply type the numbers into the input box at the top and click the “Add New Key” button.
 Once a License Key has been added, it appears in the list. You can select the License Key with the mouse and click the
“Display License Details for Selected Key” button and information will be displayed showing the product that is licensed,
type of Sentinel, and the Sentinel Serial Number.

Installation of the Theta License Manager is now complete.

Keep your list of Key Codes in a safe place. You will be able to use them if you ever need to install to another computer. Put
your original CD away in a safe place.
