indonesian . This disease has occurred in a neighboring
country, Singapore.Monkeypox is a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus in the family Poxviridae.
Monkeypox is a rare viral zoonosis (a virus transmitted
to humans from animals) with symptoms similar to those seen in the past in smallpox patients, although it is clinically less severe. Human monkeypox was first identified in humans in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (then known as Zaire) in a 9 -year -old boy in a region where smallpox had been eliminated in 1968.
The cause of smallpox monkey is a monkeypox virus
infection. This virus can live in humans and animals. Monkeypox belongs to the virus of the genus Orthopoxvirus and is a fairly rare virus.
Transmission of smallpox monkeys can through
animals and also humans. Animals that might transmit monkey pox to humans are monkeys, mice, or squirrels.
Here are some ways of transmitting monkey pox from
animals to humans:
Bite by animals such as monkeys, mice or infected
squirrels. Direct contact with infected animals. Consumption of infected animal meat.
Whereas for transmission between humans is through
droplet infection (saliva). Possible transmissions include:
Direct contact with infected humans.
Direct contact with objects affected by bodily fluids of an infected person, including sharing food and drink with an infected person.
How our view of the disease is This disease is very
troubling in this world especially in indonesia. This disease makes many people temporaly not go travelling aboard .and other then that I think this disease is very dangerous . why I say that because we can see from the way of transmission that is very easy and fast. for example, even with droplet infection, monkey pox virus can infect other people. However, that disease doesn’t cause people die. But, we don’t have to scare because this disease not yet entered in our country.
because this disease has not yet entered Indonesia as a
health worker, what needs to be done is to strengthen supervision by creating and increasing staff at the international airport and international port health offices. why is that because airports and ports are places where people from all over the world gather and carry various kinds of diseases that can infect people like monkeypox.
and For people who have just returned from areas
affected by smallpox monkeys such as Central and West Africa, it is advisable to immediately check the health condition. If in less than three weeks after returning from the region and experience symptoms of high fever, enlarged lymph nodes, and rashes on the skin, immediately inform the health worker and tell the travel history.
Apart from strict supervision at health offices at airports
and ports, the disease can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle and as health workers we must continue to educate the public about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. For example like: 1. Wash your hands with soap 2. Avoid direct contact with mice or primates 3. Limiting direct exposure to blood or meat that is not well cooked 4. Avoid physical contact with infected people or contaminated material 5. Avoid contact with wild animals or consume meat that is hunted from wild animals.
and as health workers are also asked to always use
protective equipment such as gloves and masks when handling patients or sick animals.
