Construction Engineering
Is a professional discipline that deals with the designing, planning, construction, and management of infrastructures
such as roads, tunnels, bridges, airports, railroads, facilities, buildings, dams, utilities, and other projects.
Construction Engineer
The key members of building projects, who must have a strong analytical skills and be good on working with a large
team.
A construction engineer is a civil engineer that designs, manages and oversees projects within the construction industry.
These projects may include rebuilding roadways and designing buildings. Their job outlook has been positive but can fluctuate
based on economic conditions.
Most construction engineer specialize in specific type of project such as commercial buildings, heavy highway(bridges,
tunnels, and underground, wastewater plants), mechanical systems, or electrical. Construction engineers operate as part of
engineering expert, part project manager, and part business manager. They creatively serve as a leader and middleman on
construction projects to make sure everything about the project is safe, smooth and structurally sound.
Involves the application of technical and scientific knowledge to infrastructure construction projects. While engineering
on focuses on design and construction management is concerned and overseeing the actual construction, CEM often represents
a blend of both discipline, bridging, design and management is concerned with overseeing the actual construction. Their skills
may be applied widely to architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.
Work Responsibilities
Construction engineering managers often work out of a central office but may make frequent visits to job sites and
sometimes engage in on-location work with labor. They also tour sites regularly to inspect the work being done and to ensure
that proper standards in the construction project are being maintained.
A construction engineering manager also has a host of other responsibilities. He or she is often called upon to survey the
job site prior to the beginning of a project, addressing environmental issues and local laws or codes that must be followed.
