Introduction: Inquiry, Investigation and Immersion

What is Inquiry, Investigation and Immersion:

It is a common subject included in K-12 Basic Ed. Curriculum. This will develop the critical thinking and
problem solving skills through qualitative and quantitative research.

Inquiry is defined as “the systematic search for information knowledge and truth about certain things.
It is the process of solving a problem through researching and probing”. It involves questioning and
interrogation.

Investigation is the systematic examination to uncover facts regarding the matter. It is done carefully and by
thoroughly inspecting details in organized manner and assessing facts which are uncovered in the process.

Immersion means that the researchers immerse themselves in the culture they are studying.

Research is a prerequisite of PR1 & 2.

Content: INTRODUCTION and Background of the study

Chapter I of your research study includes the Introduction of the topic under investigation. This shows
the significance of your study. You are going to pinpoint the essence of pursuing your research and provide an
overview of the focus of your study. You highlight important details of interest concerning your topic, which
should lead toward your own reason for choosing to investigate it. You must mention the rationale behind
pursuing your research. You should address the features that can contribute to the people concerned.

REMINDER: The following questions will aid the researcher in formulating the introduction: ref. p26-27 C& E
1. What is the rationale of the research?
2. What is the setting of the research problem?
3. What is the basic literature foundation of the study?
4. How serious is the chosen research problem?
5. What is the general objective of the research problem?
6. What is the overall purpose of the research problem?

The Introduction must only be short and concise. It must be composed of about three to five pages.

Background of the Study:

Here, you include existing literature, current issues and present problems associated with the study.
You indicate the gap of knowledge which initiated the need for further investigation, identifying the particular
one which you want to focus on. You must have a thorough discussion of the problem, the importance of doing
the investigation to strengthen the beneficial purpose of conducting researches.
Having enough information will provide a gist of important and relevant research studies upon which the
problem is based. It will then convey your understanding about the problem you are investigating, which will set
the credibility of your overall analysis and findings. It will assist your readers to understand the contexts in which
your research problem is related.
The nature and background of the study presents a description of the foundation of your chosen topic.
