South Shore Cruising Club February 2021

2021 Officers Welcome aboard to the February issue of

The Breeze. Can you believe we’ve already
COMMODORE
Jim McKee put an entire month of 2021 behind us? As
216 513-4809 a reminder, The Breeze is going to be the
jimmynickles21@yahoo.com main source for information for South
VICE COMMODORE Shore Cruising Club. If you would like to

loeyforme@yahoo.com the group we welcome your submissions!
REAR COMMODORE SSCC will be holding it’s meetings via
Sheila Busser ZOOM once again this year. I think we can
216-645-9649
sheila.busser@gmail.com all agree - Covid restrictions or not- it
makes it a lot easier for more members to jump online to meet rather
FLEET CAPTAIN
Rob Willison than run around town after work. We encourage all of you to partici-
518-369-3134 pate in the ZOOM meetings. I promise, they will be quick and efficient.
rob2102@aol.com As an added bonus, there’s not dress code-come as you are!
SECRETARY
Beth McKee As discussed in earlier meetings we are going to be heavily focusing on
(440) 731-8060 new membership. We encourage EVERY member to talk about the club
bethelou2@aol.com
with any and everyone who loves boating. Invite follow dockers and oth-
TREASURER ers you know who have boats to join us at our membership drives and
Roger Busser let’s get some new interest in this long established club!

With the vaccinations still being distributed and the upcoming social
MASTER-AT-ARMS distances guidelines unknown, we are going to do our best planning safe,
Vacant exciting events that will not only keep our club promoting safety on the
PAST COMMODORE water, but also on land. We are still planning to have a Shakedown in
Pat Valliere May. Of course, the details will be announced closer to that date. We’ll
(330) 730-3837
luvtub2@hotmail.com just have to be flexible, and if you look at what they are doing around
the boating community (IE the Progressive Virtual Boat Show), I am
TRUSTEES
confident that we can get creative enough to have plenty to look forward
to. We all are longing for anything the resembles “getting back to nor-
Kathy Valliere mal” and I have several ideas we hope to do to make it seem like we’re
(330) 273-3545
luvtub2@hotmail.com headed back to that “life”.
Jim Watson Please make time to attend the meeting via Zoom on Friday, February
(330) 958-7562 12, 2021 at 7:00 pm. The invite will be sent to your email. If you need to
jwatson1law@gmail.com
update your information please do so prior so you do not miss out....I
Bill Scheef look forward to seeing you all very soon. Never fear, the days are getting
(440) 669-6036 longer so the pants will be getting shorter. Stay safe, healthy and warm -

summer will be here before you know it!

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE 2021

One of SSCC main goals for this year is to retain our current members and recruit new members to join our
club. We will be scheduling several events this year in order to achieve this goal. We will try to schedule a
few membership drives or dock parties and invite as many boaters as possible to attend. Our Fleet Captain
Rob Willison is also putting together a great cruise schedule for 2021.

Each member of SSCC needs to be a part of the Membership Committee. If you know of anyone at your
marina or a dock mate that you might want to invite, please let Membership Chairman Rich know. You can
send an email to bethelou2@aol.com.

Hopefully we will be able to enjoy a boating season this year since the vaccines have arrived. We will be
sending out further information close to the events and will be asking for everyone to volunteer.

Thank You, Rich McKee - Membership Chairman

GCBA Patron Ads: It is that time of year again as we begin collecting donations towards
the GCBA Who’s Who Book. Patron Ads are $5.00 per line. Each club that receives over
40 lines wins two free tickets to the GCBA Commander’s Ball. Greater Cleveland Boating
Association is involved in Political Action and the boating rights of all boaters. These do-
nations go toward a worthy cause. If you want to donate, please submit your money and
the name you would like for your Patron Ad to Rich McKee’s attention. We will be collect-
ing until the end of March so please consider donating. Checks can be made out to SSCC.
Please mail to: Rich McKee, 5965 Olive Avenue, North Ridgeville, OH 44039. Thank
You for your consideration, Rich McKee, GCBA Delegate

SSCC web site and Facebook improvements for 2021: With the new year upon us
we’re working to upgrade our web site and improve our Facebook page. We’re working
on new site features and a streamlined, modern design, more current information,
improved functionality, and easy access to essential information for our members and
visitors. The goal is to create good content that benefits and resonates with our members.
In the end we want the pages to be fun and connect members to each other and be a tool to
expand our membership. If you have any ideas to share or content please send to Sheila
Busser at sheila.busser@gmail.com

Official Appointment: All members are reminded that they are officially appointed as
the photographers of the club. Any pictures to be included in the Breeze should be sent to
The Breeze Editor at: bliberty@natca.net, and pics for the website should be sent to Sheila
