Dr.Aziz
• Is a young Indian Muslim doctor, widower
and father.
• Aziz is the most complex character. He is
portrayed by fieldling as the typical Indian.
• He is:
• intelligent, sensitive, emotional but he is also
irrational, impulsive and suspicious.
• He shows hospitality to Mrs. Moore and
Mrs. QUESTED and does his best to please them
and to be accepted as a friend.
Dr. Aziz
• He is proud that Fielding is his best friend, but after
the trial against his “crime”, his attitude totally
differs, and their friendship breaks off .
• After the excursion to the Malabar Caves, Aziz is
accused of sexual harassment against Adela.
• His love for some of the British now turns into
hatred and he believes it is impossible to be ffriends
with any of them.

Mrs. Moore
Sensitive and humane
and friendly. She
accepts all forms of life.
Her character can be
viewed on the literal
and symbolic levels.
Mrs. Moore
Mrs. Moore also represents human
limitation as her attitude towards the
case of Aziz proves. She was incapable of
any action and support for Aziz or for
Adela.
Therefore, she withdraws and dies on
the way back to England.
MR. Fielding:
- Cyril Fielding is a 45-year-
old,unmarried,British headmaster.
-He is an old-fashioned humanist. like
Mrs. Moore, he adopts an unconventional
attitude towards Indians.
- -He treats Indians kindly and on
equal basis unlike the rest of the
English community.
Feilding
-His attitude toward the trial of Aziz
is unique. He is the only British who
supports the Indian doctor and he
believes in his innocence. He is
shunned by the whole British
community for this attitude.

• Mr. Turton:
• The collector,who governs
Chandrapore . He is bossy
and stern , though more
tactful than his wife

• Mrs. Turton :
• Turton's wife embodies the
novel’s of prejudiced English
colonial wife. She represents
the snobbery , rudeness , and
power of colonialism.
•Hamidullah :
•Dr.Aziz’s uncle and friend.
He believes that friendship
between the English and
Indian is possible in
ENGLAND not in India .
• Mahmoud Ali :
•A lawyer friend of Dr.Aziz
who is deeply pessimistic
about the English and
believes there is no way
being friends with them.
