Activity 1

I. Write a persuasive essay on how social media affects your life. Be able to convince the readers (me) to
agree on your stance whether to start/continue using social media or totally depart from it. Be guided by the
criteria below:
Content (10pts) – takes a clear stance and supports it consistently with relevant reasons and/or examples
Organization (10pts) – is focused and well organized with the effective used of transitional devices Mechanics
(10pts) – consistently show variety in sentence structure and word choice; errors in grammar, spelling, and
punctuation are limited and do not restrict reader’s understanding

Social media plays a big role in our life. Almost everyone with no age limit were using social media as part of
their everyday life. It became a source of communication for our love ones who live in other places. It also
became a source of entertainment for others. Social media have different offers that might entertain us. Social
media itself is not bad. However, as we use it abusively, it became a harmful one in some ways. One of the
negative effects that social media have is it loses our privacy. When an information has been posted, it is no
longer private, and may end up falling into wrong hands. Posting our photos and information should be done
wisely. We must set our privacy setting of to whom it will show up. One way to avoid losing privacy in social
media is set your password strong, be mindful what we post on social media. Social media became also a
source of spreading fake news. Unreliable information is being spread through social media platform.
Furthermore, social media also became a tool for cybercrime such as identity theft and many more. Thus,
humans must use social media mindfully and carefully.

ACTIVITY 2

I. Search for an article about cybercrime case in the Philippines. Analyze the article and write an expository
essay text by looking into the following published in one of our government agencies/websites. Be
guided by given criteria: Content (10pts) – all elements are well-discussed
Organization (10pts) – transitional devices are correctly used
Mechanics (10pts) – grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and format are correctly observed.
• Reason for being sued/Cybercrime offense
• Setting of the incident
• People involved
• Punishment for the offender
• Casualties to the victims

Technologies have a lot of things that can do. It makes the work easier for humans. No doubt
that technology have a big help for us. However, technologies also have disadvantages for humans. It
can be a source of cyber crime which helps the people to scam, identity theft and cyber bullying.

One cyber crime case in the Philippines is some students have been selling sensual photos and
videos online to raise funds to support their education in the time of COVID-19 pandemic. The students
posted photos on their social media accounts. PNP said that they will try to task their Anti-Cybercrime
to monitor these postings and to track or monitor. However, PNP explained that the police cannot just
monitor social media accounts. The PNP also coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and
Development (DSWD) regarding the matter. Since the person involved are minors, what they did is they
task our cybercrime to monitor this one and inform the parents and maybe track and inform the parents
or forward it to DSWD for professional intervention.

It is true, that pandemic gave a hard time for students in education. However, selling sensual
photos online is still not right to do. There are many ways to sustain our studies. Parents should guide
their children well. Since the people involved are minors, the parents are responsible for that. I hope
that this kind of work online is not right in the sight of God and in our laws in this world.
