Sometimes we can separate the multi- word verbs, but we have to follow
these rules:

• Look at your shoes! They are wet, take off your shoes. (noun)
• Look at your shoes! They are wet, take your shoes off.
When we have a noun we can separate the phrasal verb (he particle is after
or before the noun).

Personal pronouns I You We They He She It

Object pronouns Me You Us Them Him Her It


• Look at your shoes! They are wet, take off them.
• Look at your shoes! They are wet, take them off.
When we use an object pronoun the particle is after it.
