What are PHRASAL VERBS?

• Phrasal verbs are idiomatic phrases that work as verbs they indicate action!
• Made up of a verb+ a preposition or an adverb

• One verb can get different meanings depending on the preposition or


adverb used with it.
• Example:
• Peter, it’s late, you need to GET UP now!
• GET OUT! The roof is collapsing!
PHRASAL VERBS AND
CLOTHES
• Put on clothes= Get dressed
• Take off clothes= Get undressed
• Try on clothes= Put on clothes to try the fit
• Dress up= Put on elegant clothes/wear a costume
• Wear out=Use an item until no longer in good
condition
• Zip up= fasten/close a garment with a zip
• Go with=clothes that match
