WHAT IS SENTENCE !!!

• A combination of words which makes complete sense is called a


(Sensible)Sentence.
TWO PARTS OF THE SENTENCE

• One is Subject, The hero of the Action, and the other is Predicate, the story of
the Action.
• Eg. Robert Speaks English – Subject.
• Robert Speaks English – Predicate.
• There is an other one called Object which we will discuss in future.
• Eg. Robert Speaks English – Object.
INTRODUCTION TO PARTS OF SPEECH

Noun

• Noun is a word used as the name of a Person, Place, Thing or an Idea.

• Eg. Robert Speaks English.


PRONOUN

• Pronoun is a word used to replace a Noun.

• Eg. Robert Speaks English. He also speaks Hindi.


ADJECTIVE

• Adjective is a word used to add something to the meaning of a Noun.


• (Adj. simply tells more about a Noun)

• Eg. Robert Speaks Good English


ADVERB

• Adverb is a word used to add something to the meaning of a Verb, Adjective or an


other Adverb
• (Adv. Tells more about a Verb, Adj. or Adv.)

• Eg. Robert speaks fast – qualifies Verb.


• Robert speaks very good English – qualifies Adjective.
• Robert speaks very fast – qualifies Adverb.
DAY 3 - VERB

• Verb is a word used to express an action, state or event.


• Eg. Robert Speaks English.
PREPOSITION

• Preposition is a word used with a noun or pronoun to show the relationship


between things, how the person or thing is related.
• Eg. Robert lives in Bangalore.

CONJUNCTION

• Conjunction is a word used to combine two words or sentences into one.


• Eg. Robert speaks English and Hindi.

• For – And – Nor – But – Or – Yet – So


INTERJECTION

• Interjection is a word used to express sudden Emotions.


• Eg. Alas !! I did not expect this. Hurrah !! I am so excited.

• A and An are Indefinite Articles


• The is a definite Articles.
INTRODUCTION TO VERB TENSES

• Verb is a word used to express an action, state or event.


• Under Verb, There are three major Tenses.
VERB TENSE TYPES

• Under each tense, there are four types.


• They are Simple form, Continuous form, Perfect form and Perfect
Continuous form.
PRESENT TENSE

Whatever is related to present, it comes under this tense.


Present - Definition
SIMPLE PRESENT

• Sub + V1 + Obj.
• Eg. Dhoni Plays Cricket.
• We use the above tense to denote/express an action which is Factual,
Habitual, Routine or Truth is nature.
“BE FORM” VERBS

• Verb changes its form depending on the time.


• We have four forms of Verbs as Follows, V1, V2, V3 and V4.
FIRST FORM – V1

• This is Simple Present form.


• Wherever we see V1, we will use this form.
• Eg. Speak/Speaks.
SECOND FORM – V2

• This is Simple Past form.


• Wherever we see V2, we will use this form.
• Eg. Spoke.
THIRD FORM – V3

• This is Present Perfect form.


• Whenever we see V3, we will use it.
• Eg. Spoken.
FOURTH FORM – V4

• This is the Present Continuous Form.


• This is nothing But, V1 + ing
• Whenever we see V4, we will use this form.
Eg. Speaking.
DAY 6

• Recall “Be Form Verbs”


• Simple Present Tense
WHAT IS OBJECT !!

• Subject is something like a Hero of the Action.


• Predicate is something like the Story of an Action.
• Object is something like the Receiver of an Action
WHAT ANSWERS WHAT ?

• Subject answers the questions What(does the action) or Who.


• Object answers to Whom or What receives the action.
PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

• Sub + Am/is/are + V4 + Obj.


• Eg. Dhoni is playing chess.
• We use the above tense to denote/express an action which is happening right
now.

PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

• Sub + has/have + V3 + Obj


• Eg. Dhoni has played cricket.
• We use the above tense to denote/express an action which has just happened.

• He, She, It – Has
PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

• Sub + has/have + Been + V4 + Obj.


• Eg. Dhoni has been playing cricket for 20 years.
• We use the above tense to express an action which started in the past and still
happening in the present for a period of time.

SIMPLE PAST TENSE

• Sub + V2 + Obj.
• Eg. Dhoni Played Cricket.
• We use the above tense to denote an action which happened in the past.
PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE

• Sub + was/were + V4 + Obj.


• Eg. Dhoni was playing Cricket.
• We use the above the tense to denote an action which was happening in the
past.
