What is a noun and a verb?
• Noun is a person, place, thing, or
idea.
• Verb is a word used to describe
an action

When do we use noun and verbs? 

• We use nouns when we need to


describe and identify the
subject or object of the
sentence.
• We use verbs to describe what
the noun or subject of the
sentence is doing.
Examples of Nouns and Verbs
• Jacob is going to the store to
pick up a bag of grapes.
• I have bolded all the nouns in
the sentence.
• Jacob is going to the store to
pick up a bag of grapes.
• I have bolded all the verbs.
Other types of nouns

• Pronoun- Replaces a noun in a


sentence, such as her, him, or
them.
• Proper noun- A name used for
an individual person, place or
thing; such as McDonald's, or
someones name actual name.

sentences.
• There are also pronouns, used to replace a noun in a sentence
• There are proper nouns as well, use for an idividual person or place
(names).
