• act as adverbs or adjectives
Examples:
• The cupcake with sprinkles is yours.

• The car near the house is luxurious.

• We climbed up the hill.

• We jumped over the fence.


ADJECTIVE PHRASE

modify nouns and pronouns in the same way


single-word adjectives do.
Adjective Phrase
1. The cupcake with sprinkles is yours.

2. The dog under the car is dead.

3. The painting by the door is the best.


ADVERB PHRASE
modifies adjectives, verbs, and
other adverbs
Adverb Phrase
1. We climbed up the hill.

2. We climbed up the very steep hill.

3. The rabbits hopped through the garden.
