Note: Windows XP Machines are generally the most difficult to get on the network, as the software was written before the
wireless specifications were developed.
• have Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later (Check for Service Pack 2 Video Tutorial)
• have the latest Windows updates
• have the latest drivers for wireless (See your computer manufacturer’s website)
• have a wireless card that is WPA compatible
• Install the the required hotfix linked below in Step 1
Note: For added security, every month, LSUS requires users to change their password. Windows XP does not offer support
for changing wireless passwords. As a result of this, in order to connect to LSUSWireless, which uses your User ID and
password, you must clear the registry. Downloading and running the file linked below will allow you to re-enter your User ID
and Password, which should allow you to connect to LSUSWireless.
Next, go to the Start menu Click Start > Connect to > Show all connections
or Classic start menu Click Start > Settings > Network Connections
Then, right click Wireless Network Connection and select Properties. You should see at least two tabs: General and
Wireless Networks. If you don’t see the Wireless Networks tab, you need to enable the Wireless Zero Configuration
service.
To Enable Wireless Zero Configuration:

3. Type LSUSWireless under Network name
(SSID) and select WPA for Network Authen-
tication and TKIP for Data Encryption. If you
don’t see these options, either the drivers for
your wireless adapter need to be updated or it is
likely that your adapter doesn’t support WPA.
