Good development of the instrument scan throughout, started out with rather big deviations and ended up keeping HDG and ALT

Preparation:
Read the applicable chapters in the SOP for lessons, how to fly circling and RNAV approaches is described in great detail in there

RNAV 01Good setup, but approach it self is too unstable, focus on getting your approach checklist done well before IAF and focus
on keeping a constant attitude throughout.
VOR 01When flying outbound in the procedure, you need to establish on radial 198 not just fly HDG 198, and remember that you
are not allowed to start descending before being within half scale deflection on said radial. First approach was a bit unstable, the
second one was very nice!
Focus Areas:Attitude flying and instrument scan, ALT/HDG deviations are too large.Work on multi tasking on the cockpit whilst
maintaining positive control of the airplane. Procedural knowledge is OK, you just need to practice the attitude flying a bit to free up
mental capacity for all the other tasks in the cockpit, briefings, setups etc.

We ended the session on a circle to land that was well flown.
We continued to work on his scan and flying techniques. They still need work and must be practiced more before going to the
aircraft.
Fly from home in the sofa. Practice your calls and work on being ahead of the aircraft. Calm everything down and practice doing
one thing at a time.
For that purpose work on your flows:Turn, Twist, time(push) Twist pitch“descent point... (Pitch down, reduce the power, set MAA) ...
missed approach altitude set””Go around” Power, 7.5 degrees, flaps.
Tudor has a good solid positive attitude to his learning and a good foundation to build on. All he need is a bit more practice and
more hands on flying time. The knowledge is there and the motivation to apply it as well.

Holdings: Parallel entries are not supposed to intercept outbound, but parallel its track. Intercept QDM on the way inbound. Keep
more situational awareness during holds, calculate crosswind earlier, even before entering the actual hold.
NDB 13: Some initial confusion entering the outbound during racetrack for unknown reasons. Once established the crosswind was
applied for 1 min thereafter track, correctly executed.
Poor tracking inbound, approach not stable.
RNAV 01 RVK: Laterally struggling to keep inbound track. Avoid fixation on the descent, both axis needs to be monitored and
corrected.
VOR 01: Good descent and final configuration! Stay more precise on inbound track.
ILS 01: Superb! Stable until minima.
NDB 10: Not really stable laterally, student needs to especially focus on NDB next lessons.
Go a rounds are well performed. Checklist and callouts are performed correctly as long as stress level is normal. Try to discipline
yourself more so that these items are performed every time irrespective of stress level.

VOR 28A bit too rushed and messy! Make sure you complete your plate briefing and preferably also the approach checklist prior to
starting the approach, especially when it started on your own initiative.Remember to descend, calculate the required NM and then
compare to available track miles remaining in the procedure.
VOR holdingWhen you know which approach flown after the holding, try to hold on a convenient radial which matches your initial
outbound course. Generally the holding was flown with little situational awareness and too much deviation laterally.
Student has good general knowledge of how to execute the procedures in theory, but ends up lacking behind in the airplane due to
lack of workload management. A revision flight is recommended, focusing on workload management and maintaining good SA

Operational flight plan was nicely filled out, however the ICAO plan was a fair bit off, with wrong DOF, level, routing and more... this
is all things that could have been fixed by double checking and following as simply how to fill out ICAO Flightplan guide from
google.
Furthermore, Weather charts and especially NOTAMS need to be checked thoroughly, not only for the departure airport, all
potentially relevant NOTAMS must be read and understood.
Flight
Good instrument setup and nice departure out of BIKF via SID, good plan keeping en-route as well descend planning.
Study up on use of autopilot during approach procedures, remember that its not worth using it if it adds confusion an workload to
your approach.
Read up on lost communications, so you know the procedure by heart.

Practice ATC readbacks and try to enhance listening skills with live ATC, YouTube etc. , a few too many times we are simply not
answering ATC in due time, because we are unsure of what to say...

Planning wise: The ICAO form is properly filled out, however you need to make sure that there are no route discontinuities (Airways
without an entry or exit point) and make sure you are using the appropriate airways, e.g. not an upper level RNP 1 airway if you
intend to fly at FL100. Be curious when planning the flight, if there are phrases, symbols or designators that you realize you are not
sure of, they are usually just a google search away.
When planning flight over large bodies of water, you as PIC, are expected to have performed the necessary calculations
(PET/Gliding dist.) to ensure the safety of the passengers!
The en-route and departure phase of the flight is flown well without much issues, however the approach and arrival phase tends to
be a bit too unstructured resulting on tasks saturation and loss of SA during the approach itself.
e.g. having wring altitudes selected in ALTS, whilst operating in VNAV, Maintaining much too high speed during Intermediate and
Final approach segment, not noticing when passing FAP, late or no configuration etc.

Make yourself a mental checklist (or write it down for that matter) that defines which tasks have to be done in between the point
where you decide which approach to fly and the point at which the airplane is established in said procedure, This should include:
Loading the procedure and mentally (or by use of VNAV) calculating a TOD so to give your self a timeline, determining how much
time you have to set-up and brief.Thoroughly briefing the plate "into" the G1000.Brief speeds and configuration gates, to make sure
you are not just letting the autopilot fly whatever speed the given vertical mode gives you.
As PIC during single pilot IFR, we need to be ahead of what is happening, you cannot be a passenger and e.g. use the autopilot as
your co-pilot.
Take the following into consideration and you will be well on your way!
