Summarising :
Summarizing means identifying the main idea and most important facts, then writing a brief overview that
includes only those key ideas and details. A good summary is short and to the point. The following easy
summarizing strategies will help:
1. Read and understand the text carefully.
2. Think about the purpose of the text. Ask what the author's purpose is in writing the text? ...
3. Select the relevant information. ...
4. Find the main ideas - what is important. ...
5. Change the structure of the text. ...
6. Rewrite the main ideas in complete sentences. ...

 look for the key information
 look at each paragraph, locate the topic sentence (often the first one) and decide what the main point is
