ZXSDR OMMB Software Installation Guide

Steps
l Preparations for installing ZXSDR OMMB in SUSE Linux:
a. Disable the buffering function of hosts.

Note:
Before installing ZXSDR OMMB in SUSE Linux, you must disable the buffering
function of the host, so that the ZXSDR OMMB can acquire the IP address of the
server.
This operation is not required in Solaris or AIX.

To disable the buffering function of hosts, execute the following steps:

1. Use the root account to log in to the SUSE Linux system.
2. Use the text editor to open the /etc/nscd.conf file, and change the
parameter enable-cache hosts yes to enable-cache hosts no.
3. On a command terminal, execute the rcnscd restart command to restart the
nscd service. The result is displayed as follows:

rcnscd start
Shutting down Name Service Cache Daemon
Starting Name Service Cache Daemon

b. (Optional) Set the port mapping.

A mapping between port 21 and port 64021 is only required in the GU mode.
Log in to the system by using the root account, and execute the following
commands in the command terminal to implement port mapping:
# iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 21 -i eth0
-j REDIRECT --to-port 64021
# iptables-save

Note:
l The port number after --dport is the source.
l The port number after --to-port is the destination.
l eth0 is an example of the network adapter number, which is to be modified
based on actual configuration.

c. Create an omc account and assign permissions to this account.

It is recommended to log in to OMMB by using the omc account from a security
prospective. While you must install the OMMB by using the root account in some

scenarios, such as Workload Partition (WPAR) in AIX. If the omc account has
existed, skip this step.
1. Use the root account to log in to the system, and execute the following
command in the command terminal to create an omc account:

#mkdir /home/omc
#useradd -d /home/omc -m -G dba omc

2. Execute the passwd omc command in the command terminal, and enter a new
password for the omc account.

Note:
l The length of the password must be no less than six characters.
l The password must contain digits, capital letters, and lowercase letters.
l The password must not contain more than four continuous digits or letters,
for example, 12345* or abcde*.

d. Obtain the ZXSDR OMMB installer.

1. Use the omc account to log in to the SUSE Linux system.
2. Enter the /home/omc directory, and create an OMMB-Installer folder.
3. Use an FTP tool, such as winScp or CuteFTP, to upload ZXSDR OMMB
installer in binary mode in the OMMB-Installer folder and unzip it.
e. (Optional) Configure the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) forwarding
function.

Note:
Before assigning IP addresses dynamically for NEs through DHCP (refer to the
step 10), the DHCP forwarding function must be configured.

1. Enter the /Installer/install/tools/dhcp directory where the

unzipped OMMB installer files are located.
2. Execute the su root command in the command terminal to use the root
account.
3. Execute the ./dhcp.sh command to start the script file.
4. After the system displays Please input eth name which connects to NE:,
enter the number of the network card that is connected to the base station, for
example, eth0.

If the DHCP forwarding function has been configured, the command terminal
will display DHCP relay had been configured, input "y" to re-configure it,

input "n" to exit:. To reconfigure the DHCP forwarding function, enter y. To

exit, enter n.
f. (Optional) Configure Network Time Protocol (NTP).

If the clock synchronization is activated, OMMB not only acquires a clock from the
external clock source but also serves as a clock source for other devices.
To make the operating system provide clock source for OMMB, execute the NTP
script as follows:

1. Unzip the OMMB installer package. Enter the /Installer/install/too

ls/ntp directory where the unzipped OMMB installer files are located.
2. Execute the su root command in the command terminal to use the root
account.
3. Execute the chmod +x ntp.sh command to assign the run permission for the
ntp.sh script.
4. Execute the ./ntp.sh 10.9.176.55 command to start the script file.
The IP address of the computer providing the clock source is 10.9.176.55.

If two clock sources are required, use the ./ntp.sh 10.9.176.55 10.9.176.56
command format. 10.9.176.55 is the IP address of the main clock source.
10.9.176.56 is the IP address of the alternate clock source.
Execute the ntpq –p command to view the configuration.

l Preparations for installing ZXSDR OMMB in Solaris:

a. Create an omc account.
1. Use the root account to log in to the Solaris system.
2. In the command terminal, execute the following commands to create an omc
account:

#mkdir /export/home/omc
#useradd -G dba omc

l If the account is created successfully, go to the step d.

l If the system displays Operation not applicable, go to the step 3.
3. Execute the #vi /etc/auto_master command, delete the /home line in the file,
and then save and exit the file. Execute the #automount –v command again.
l If the account is created successfully, go to the step d.
l If the system still displays Operation not applicable, go to the step 4.
4. Reboot the Solaris system, and execute the following commands:

#mkdir /home/omc

b. Obtain the ZXSDR OMMB installer. Refer to d. Acquire the ZXSDR OMMB
installer.

l Warning indicates that differences exist between the detection result and the
installation requirements. For example, the database version is older than the
required version. When a warning occurs, you need to fix it before proceeding
with the installation, otherwise the ZXSDR OMMB may not run properly.
l Error indicates that the detection result does not meet the installation require-
ments. If an error occurs, you cannot proceed with the installation.
After fixing all warnings, you can click Back and then Next to perform environment
detection again.

a. In the navigation tree on the left, select IP Configuration, and then set the
cascade IP address and the NE communication IP address, see Figure 2-7.

Note:
l The cascade IP address is used in the communication between the ZXSDR
OMMB and its upper-level NMS.

ZXSDR OMMB server and NEs.

b. In the navigation tree on the left, select DHCP Configuration, and then select
whether to enable the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) function, see
Figure 2-8.

DHCP provides dynamic allocation of IP addresses for the NEs it manages. One
server can be installed with multiple ZXSDR OMMBs, each of which can configure
its own DHCP service in the configuration center. While only one DHCP service
can be started at a time. The DHCP service is started by default.

After initial installation of the OMMB system software, the OMMB software upgrade
installation can be implemented. The database and the ZXSDR OMMB configuration
center use the parameters of the original version by default.

Prerequisite
The initial installation of the OMMB system is completed.

Steps
1. Use the omc account to log in to the operating system.

2. Upload the OMMB installation files to the installation file directory in binary mode, and
unzip the files.
