Did the Columbian Exchange have an overall positive

or negative effect on world history?

 I believe that the Columbian Exchange had a negative effect because of the negative
effect overpowering the good effects in my opinion. The Columbian Exchange brought food,
crops and many things we use in the US today. With all these things brought to us from the
Columbian Exchange that we might say are essential for daily life, there is a negative effect
from it as well such slavery population numbers going up, the spread of diseases we still
have today, etc. The middle passage Europeans took for the Columbian Exchange was very
surprising to the people in north America. This triangular trade of the Columbian exchange
was very impacting no matter what priorities you have, from foods to silver/gold. Aztec/Inca
and Mayan Empires got many things such as tobacco, corn, beans, pineapples, vanilla,
tomatoes, etc.
 The Encomienda System had a big role in the Columbian Exchange as many men payed
tribute, Hernando de Soto was a Spanish conquistador at the time was ruling Spain as the
Columbian Exchange failed on his hunt for gold. The Columbian Exchange is the reason
behind population growth in Europe by bringing new crops from the Americas and started
Europe's economy to end up in capitalism. The Columbian exchange boosted Christianity to
be a more global religion, the reason behind that is Europe forcibly spread Christianity to the
America’s, Christianity was able to eliminate Islam and other religions in the New World
bringing the ‘Native vs Christian Religion ‘phase.
 Of course there is going to be people with Mercantilism thinking that the Columbian
Exchange had rather a good effect but I think that it comes down to what you prioritize
more, the food and crops aren’t going to be ready to go in stores packaged for you ready to
go. The food and crops brought to us from the exchange needs to be distributed through-out
industrial areas for processes we still make today to make sure our food is well enough to
send out into the public.
 The industrial areas don’t on themselves there are workers or slaves working in those
places which is great, the catch is that the Columbian exchange brought diseases with it too
and what will happen if the Mestizo workers/slaves working to send out the food and
essentials we need that we got from the Columbian exchange get sick or catch one of the
many diseases that was bought into the country, there will be no food from the trade. We
need healthy workers in order to send out the essentials we got from the Columbian
exchange, if not then there is no point in having it.
