4G CALCULATION FOR CNG CASCADE Dia. 559 x 500 Ltr x 6 Cyl - WC 3000 Ltr.

Cylinder size 559 x 17.3 mm x 500 ltr.

1 Weight of each cylinder - 785 kg

2 Number of cylinder in cascade - 6 Nos.
3 Weight of CNG filled in cylinder - 87.56 kg
4 Total weight of filled cylinder - 872.56 kg
5 Gravitational Acceleration, g - 9.81 m/sec².

Calculation of load on the base structure Part I & II 6 cylinder

Force that should be sustained by cascade frame member due to 4g acceleration

F = Mass x Aceeleration

= W/g x (4 x g)
03.12.2019
satish = Wx4

= 872.56 x 6 x 4

= 20941 kgf

Consider the 4g impact in vertical direction

Total load is sustained by two beams and are assumed to be simply supported
at both ends.

There fore load on each members (W) = 20941 / 1

= 20941 kgf

Section Modulus of SHS 150x150x8mm = 192400 mm³

Section Modulus of SHS 100X100x6mm = 76230 mm³
(Properties of TATA/ Applo structura)

Section Modulus of the section used = ( 192400 x 2 )'+

( 76230 x 1 ) mm³
= 461030 mm³
2699 Check
Length of Span = 1825 mm ( from frame drg.)

Maximum stress at center of beam supported at both ends carrying UDL is

= WL / 8Z

= 20941 X 1825
8 461030
= 10.36 kg/mm²

This is less than the strength of material which is 16.5 kg/mm². Therefore the horizontal
beam can sustain the 4g impact in vertical direction.

During vertical impact the total load is sustained by four vertical corner columns.

F = Mass x Aceeleration

= W/g x (4 x g)

= Wx4

= 872.56 x 6 x 4

= 20941 kgf

Therefore the load on each vertical corner column (W)

= 20941
4

= 5235.4 kgf

Maximum stress in section = Load

Area

For SHS 100 x 100mm from (Properties of TATA/ Applo structura)

Area = 2163 mm²

Therefore maximum stress in section = 5235.4

2163

= 2.42 kg./mm²

Allowable Comressive Stress for the section = 15 kg./mm²

Which is greater than the actual stress 2.42 kg./mm² in section
