Activity #5: Shear and Moment Diagram MODULE 1 - PRELIM

1. Write the equations for shear and moment between points B and C as a function of distance
x along the longitudinal axis of the beam in Figure P5.1 for (a) origin of x at point A, and (b)
origin of x at D.

2. For each beam, draw the shear and moment diagrams, label the maximum values of shear
and moment, locate points of inflection, and sketch the deflected shape.

3. Draw the shear and moment curves for each member of the frame in Figure P5.26. Sketch the
deflected shape.
